you lost the plot mate,
Britain shipped out their criminals to Australia and they colonized it.
Disregarding immigration of other ethnicity to Australia over the past two or three generations,
White Australians are English mate. Australia is Britain.
Look at your flag, its got the union jack on it and your queen is Elizabeth II.
I am not saying it is a bad country, never been there to form an opinion. It is probably a very good one, today.
But dont feed me the horse manure that it was a peaceful colonization and the natives were not subjugated.
I wonder what you would think if China did what the British did in Australia today.
Imagine if China dropped off their communist minded criminals and gave them advanced weapons and supported them to colonize it.
They would think its the best thing since hoisin sauce. What would you think?
You are completely wrong Max.
Australia was always a diverse country from the early days of settlement - Predominately English, Irish and Prussian German.
In fact, the Irish always outnumbered the English and still do to this day.
We are very grateful to the British for everything they did for us. The Union Jack is still on the Australian Flag. And Queen Elizabeth is the Monarch of Australia.
Australia was the most peaceful colonisation. That is in the history books. Captain Cook encountered Aborigines as he stepped off his ship. And the orders from the British administrators back then was to not hassle them. So they lived with the aborigines for decades. They were free to come and go.
And they were given food, medicines and alcohol but that was the worst thing that was done as many died from European Flu, and other diseases they never seen before and had no immunity to, and alcohol poisoning.
As for the penal colony. Britain decided they would settle Australia and in conjunction with that, a penal colony was formed. This is what built Australia as eventually they all became free men. And also why there are so many Irish in Australia. And 99% were petty criminals. People from poor backgrounds caught fire stealing a loaf of bread.
And they built Australia, as convict labour. Someone had to build Australia and labour was super scarce. It was messy, seeing people in chains laying rail tracks but that was the way it was 250 years ago. And these convicts later became Australia’s wealthiest dynasties. Wealthy land owners, gold prospectors and soon the joint was booming. Kidman Pastoral Company is one such example. And who hails from that family? Nicole Kidman.
In the end Max, we are quite proud of our history and how Australia came to be. 250 years ago, the first settlers had to start from scratch. It was less than a third world country and it would have been so tough. But the British built roads, rail, ports, and lay the foundations for The Commonwealth of Australia. Look at us fly now!
