This one just turned up today. You canot make it up.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/events-in-afghanistan-could-hardly-have-played-out-in-a-better-way-for-russia/ar-AANpJFs?ocid=entnewsntp

In the days before the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, a group of British defence and security officials took a top-secret trip to Moscow.

The plan was to ask their Russian counterparts for advice on operating in the country given the former Soviet Union's doomed Afghan intervention that ended in defeat in 1989.

The response was brutally prophetic.

One person who was at the meeting recalled: "When the Russians stopped laughing they told us:
'You will make the same bad choice we did, you will go in, you will lose, many of you will die and then you'll be forced to retreat, which will be good for us. How can we help?'"

Sounds like bullshit to me.

In other words, made up!

They wouldn't reveal it to the media if it was a "secret trip" nor would they go to Russia in 2001 for advice.

Such a shame.

I don’t think so somehow. The Taliban has learned their lessons not to allow third party terrorist attack any foreign land and be based in Afghanistan. Taliban will try to bring the country together to be accepted by the world in some fashion, just as other Human Rights violation countries have done in the world, which there are many, including NATO member country.

Oh btw, there is no way Trump would have allowed this to happen.

Every American should feel ashamed.

Trump did the same shit in Syria with the Kurds by selling them out.

It is the American foreign policy way.

Everyone is astonished it seems the pace the Taliban took over the whole country in one scoop.

Really, they are surprised.

Perhaps it was the open invitation for the Taliban to do just that during the negotiations with the US under Trump to prevent many Afghans leaving the country.

I had stated a week or two ago that the Taliban will take over Kabul airport overnight against the Turks once the Americans left if they wanted. They don’t fuck around.

This never was about the Afghan people,

Lets recall what this foreign adventure was about.

It was about taking out the perpetrators of the terrorist attack on the twin towers.

If that event never happened, America and allies wouldnt have gone to Afganistan.

20 years later, its about the Afghan people! really....?

They achieved their mission, then tried to set up a puppet government so they could exploit the country and its natural resources.

That failed and then after all this time, they probably realized that they were not going to get a return on their investment. Hence the withdrawal.

The Afgani's had a 300k strong security force, equipment and whatever else but corruption and a couldnt care less attitude allowed the country to fall back in to the Talibans hands.

They probably have more sympathizers and supporters among the local population than we could imagine.

But what I am more convinced about is, most Afganis are probably happy to see the end of the western occupation of their country.

Yes he left the Kurds but the Kurds are still holding their own.

Where as Afghanistan was a total disaster that has been unprecedented since Saigon.

And not to mention the disaster in Israel between Hamaz and IDF.

All because we now have a total dimwit in the Oval Office…I mean seriously! Biden is a joke and an international laughing stock.

Yes really. The allies took care of business as far as the terrorists were concerned more than 10 years ago. We could have left then but we ended up staying, helping Afghanistan build its army.

We were all under no illusion that we stayed to help the Afghan Government and people. Till Biden that is.

Really Max! Then explain the scenes at Kabul Airport.

One of my favourite shopping precincts is actually a little place we affectionately refer to as “little Kabul”. I have not seen one happy Afghani about this. Not one!
