Arakapas wildfires

Postby CrookedRiverGuy » Sun Jul 04, 2021 7:52 pm

Is there a place online which is reasonably updating regarded what areas are currently affected?

There's lots of news available about the tragedy. This map of the villages evacuated appeared on FB earlier today:

Hope all is ok over in Limasol lands. If I count Milti as one, I have 3 friends living there.

Just found this. It does not look like the fire fighters have adequate equipment.

Bushfires are hard no matter which country.

We had a lot of international help - especially from the US last time with massive water bombers, even a B747 water bomber. Dozens of planes.

They needed help from us in California and did the same for them.

Cyprus needs to ask for help from wherever they can get it - Greece, Spain and Israel as first ports of call because Greece and Spain in particular have a massive water bombing capability.

Don’t be shy asking all EU countries for help. Also hit the Americans up because those guys have equipment galore…

Maybe Australia too as they have experience in massive fires and great firefighting infrastructure as well.

Canada can help too but they might be preoccupied themselves.

Water bombers is what’s needed. Garden hoses won’t work that well.

The point is a country can buy tanks but will not by helicopters that can put out fires and the poor fireman looks like he has a large garden hose to use.

That is the point.

Your point is dumb because it's based on assumptions.

The problem is what they've got just wasn't enough for a bush-fire of this magnitude.

This is such a high price to pay for trying to earn a living. Burnt alive. RIP Morzok, Hisa, Ezad and Maged. I only wished you never made the journey to have such a life, but than again only you know what you were leaving behind.

The government must be held to account for not being able to save these youg people.

Not only RoC but the whole of the west should be ashamed of what they have caused for over a thousand years all over the world.

You have fallen for the old myth. No amount of weapons can protect RoC from Turkey, it is pointless spending all that money. Sure they can have minimal to protect their shoreline from criminal but against another state it is pointless.

Back in 1964 Makarios brought in 5000 tonnes of weapons for supposedly to protect Cyprus from outside attack. Yeah right whic is why they turned their turrets against the TCs firsy in the Girne region but thankfully they never used them there and then in Kochina attacking very lighly armed and very little trained 500 TC university students brought in as fodder so they can have an excuse to bomb the hell out of you and you obliged and gave him countless excuses. And just to show how stupid you were you invited them again in 1967,

So why pretend? so fools can vote for them because they tell you they are going to defend you. Pigs will fly.
