Thank you everyone. My friend GR asked how i got the virus. I have 2 carers for my 89 year old mum. One for during during the day the other for nights. I got a call from the day carer to say she tested positive and would have to self isolate so she wouldn't come to care for mum. I guessed my mum as well as the night carer would test positive too.

My wife and I jumped in the car, picked up mum and brought her back to our house. We knew mum was positive but we booked a test at our local test centre to make sure. We soon found out she was indeed positive. All the time we were with mum we wore masks, face shields and gloves. A after the carers completed their self isolation we took mum back to her house. By this time both my wife and I started coughing and feeling unwell. We booked a test and sure enough we both tested positive.

My wife, my mum and the 2 carers hardly felt the affects of the virus but I was seriously getting worse by the hour. On the 26th of January my wife called an ambulance and I was immediately rushed to hospital. I remember the journey in the ambulance but no recollection of my time in the hospital. I only found out the severity of my condition on the 14th of April. My wife then explained everything that happened and showed me some images of me in the incubator and other images of my first 20 days and hand on heart when I look at them now I wonder how and why I'm still alive.

I'm now on a long journey to a full recovery. I have 2 pyhsios visiting me at home and I expect to at least walk with a walking stick within a month or 2. My right hand is constantly numb and I'm unable to use it. No-one has any idea how to treat my hand, all the doctors that examined me believe it is covid related and will get better in time. This virus is lethal and has ruined many lives and will ruin many more. i know my life will never be the same again but I'm never going to blame anyone nor will I say why me. My thinking is why not me? Take care guys and be safe.
