...while the coup was successful in removing Makarios from his seat, it failed because Cypriots, Greek Cypriots, did not support their aims, overwhelmingly withholding their participation they stayed home silent instead.
...frankly there is no point in considering the "Greeks'" position; or best perhaps is to compare their aims to "Turkishness"; both the bane of Cypriots, their victims in this "proxy war": are "they" no different and the same?
...like 1963, 1974, is a symptom, an indication of something bigger, call it the Problem; defining more clearly Freedom, and, Liberty. A solution in Cyprus, because it is small by population, gives Hope. And it gives Turkey with its own Problem, something to emulate; Cyprus for Cypriots, and within it National Assemblies at another level of Government, as Persons: a BBF. It provides Hope to the entire region, given how it is torn apart too, and in affect, with the same Problem.
