Don't be stupid BoZo attempted to crash out of the EU in October 2019. Boris did nothing else from that point onwards except claim there was no need for a second vote as people had decided 4 years before, went ahead with an election on a single slogan "Lets get it done", knowing the Liberal voters would not join Corbyn and vote for Labour where as if it was a final "Leave Without a Deal if Necessary", which is what he was planning all along, a referendum would have returned remain.

The Tories are full of shit gutless people who go according to which was the wind is blowing just to be in power no matter who they destroy including the British Industry.

When Bozo was told if we leave without a deal it will be disasters, he said "Fuck British Business". When he was challenged about it during the hustings before he got elected he explained it as "describing it as a stray remark to the Belgian ambassador”.

Be that as it may, here is the first reason I believe made a big difference.

UKIP decided to to challenge the Tory MPS and only challenge the Labour MPS. That was one of the reasons but there is plenty of others for those who took the trouble to look at what went on.

Full and shit and gutless for honouring the will of the people? mmm

Why don't you tell us then why the gutless Tories won in a landslide.

So last bight by-election and other elections.

The day Corby was thrown out of the Labour Party is the day I cancelled my subscription. Most of my friends did it the moment Starmer won.

I love the double standards of the Blairites. When Corbyn was not doing as well as expected despite the fact thay against all odds he came close to winning and that was despite what the party members and MPs were getting up to, he was being asked to go. Now here is Starmer and he has been there about a year but he is not to blame the Labour Party is. Mandleson said it was covid and Corbyn that caused it.

I am afraid as mush as Blairites wanted Corbyn humiliated, I wanted Starmer and his cronies to be humiliated. What I am gutted about is the stupidity of the average Northern worker who claimed that they wanted change so they voted against Labour despite the fact that it is the Tories who implemented all the pain on them.

Be that as it may these figures speak volumes of what has happened to the Labour Party since 2005.

Londonrake have you picked up what was going on in the Labour Party headquarters after Corbyn won the leadership?

Evening Lordo.

We've diametrically opposed views on Corbyn I'm afraid but - that all seems historic now.

I wasn't surprised when Starmer won the Leadership contest. Since, I've mainly sat back and watched. It did make me wonder WTF was going on though. How on Earth can a titled, multi millionaire, London-centric Human Rights lawyer - and noted Remainer - have been adopted as the champion of the UK working class? How exactly would that have gone down in a working man's club in Barrow?

Nevertheless.

Again we are likely to disagree here. Corbyn's high water mark in 2017 was due to a number of reasons I think. Firstly Theresa May. Do I need to say more? Secondly, because he made a manifesto commitment to honour the result of the 2016 referendum. The people who made Brexit - northern Labour voters - believed him and voted for him I think in that spirit. Even so, he was 60 seats short? In 2019 It was clear though, he'd reneged on that commitment. In fact, my understanding at the time was Starmer had been the architect of the (non) Brexit policy (albatross?) which Labour took into the 2019 GE.

Hartlepool is I think the strongest pro-Brexit Labour constituency in the north. Were it not for the Brexit Party splitting the vote in 2019 the Torys would almost certainly have won (11869/10603 Brexit votes). So, unlike many it seems, I'm not personally surprised at the outcome today. What does surprise me though is that Starmer would be inept enough to parachute in an avid Remainer as Labour's candidate. WTF? It's a cliche nowadays but it seems - they still don't get it.

Sorry, don't know what you mean about Labour HQ back in 2015. :?

You've mentioned my age a couple of times in other posts. I have to say I felt it today. I got a photo of my recently 16 year old Scottish Grandson, taken as he walked into a polling station to make his first mark. I would never dream of asking him but wonder whether he voted for Nicola Sturgeon. :?:

Forgot to add. I sincerely hope that the earlier MP for Hartlepool who said that he would "melt down" if it went Tory actually does so. The Honourable Mr Peter Mandleson.

Mandy Pandy actually appeared on a radio station on the morning after and the byelection claimed what caused the defeat was the two Cs. Covid and Corbyn.

Anyway you are clearly unaware what really went on In the Labour Party from the moment Corbyn got elected to stop him winning even if it destroyed the Labour Party. I shall tackle them one by one.

I shall list them here and than expand on them one by one.

1. Blairites in the Party
2. Labour Party Friends of Israel group
3. Tory Party
4. Three leading Jewish Organizations
5. Israeli Government
6. Church of England

I will take each one one at a time to show you how they managed to get the Turkeys to vote for Christmas.

So much so that the people of Hartlepool said they were voting for change thinking changing their Labour MP for a Tory one is a change when it was the Tories who implemented the austerity policies on them for the last 11 years. Don't get me wrong I did not agree with how the good Doctor was brought in by Starmer and his personality or politics on Brexit. That's another issue specific to this byelection. I will touch that too at some point but I intend to follow the events as they happened in Date order.

As to Sir Kier, he is not really from the Elite although he is certainly London based. He was a plain old Kier Starmer when he was running the DPP under Labour and was not an MP before 2015. But he will come up in the information within the above topics. But to call him a snake working against Corby to destroy him from under his nose is complementing him. And don't even start me on the other swine Tom Watson.

Anyway enjoy your weekend .

Thanks Lordo.

I look forward to your views although - not wishing to fill you with a Messianic desire to "convert" me :) - I should say that we are unlikely to agree.................................... of course.

I don't normally suffer from sympathy for the Labour Party but feel a tad sorry for them at the moment. It strikes me that they can either move in the direction of supporting my hopes and aspirations or yours. Presently, they seem to be suffering from either trying to do both or neither. It's a puzzle. Somebody in there needs to get a grip of something.

Anyway. Yes. It's a lovely May type day here outside Limassol. More in keeping with the season, unlike the couple of mid 30C spells (aka August) we've endured recently. Global warming? :?

So, wherever you are I hope it's a good one for you. 8)

I have no wish to convert you to anything. But you should be aware of what was going on and for who's benefit.

People confuse Global warming with temperature where they live. Trumps favourate attack on the environmentalist.

Global warming is not a good name to call the problem. More like greater variation between summer and winter. One of the measurements is the melting of ice to greater degree to normal. And of course the opposite happens too but not in one year. Last time we had Global Colding, Europe was covered in snow for 100,000 years. Once in the world it became so hot that we were about to follow in the footsteps of mars. Now that does not happen often, and I do accept that the volcanoes and methane released from the seabed is far more than the pollution we create as humans, but we are adding to it and in the areas we live in. It's like eating in your kitchen and shitting in it too.

Anyway, I certainly will enjoy my weekend. Whether I like it or not. It is one of the rules of the house. :D

Yeh well, they did get caught with Anti Semitic and racist views. That stuffed them up.

But doubtful that had much to do with their defeat.

He did have an aura of being one of the most insufferable anti Brexit and anti democratic gits I had ever seen.

But the main thing is, he is insufferable.

No one in their right mind would want to have a beer with Corbyn. You would almost prefer self harm instead.

But every guy would absolutely love to have a beer with Boris. Simply put, Boris passes the pub test. 8)

Corbyn, only good for the Masochists.

Let's do a poll, and see who you would rather have a beer with? Corbyn or Boris? I bet Boris wins hands down by a country mile.
