I use both a UK and Cyprus mobile. I need the UK one because I do business in the UK, and it is convenient for UK clients to simply ring the UK phone number that they've used for the past 6 years to contact me, rather than them using a Cyprus number. It's nothing to do with locked SIMs, not using phone for 3 months, or incompatibilities. I've used my phone to make calls in Cyprus without problmes for the last 4 years, without problem. The problem has only arisen in the last week or two. I guess I'll contact Orange and Cyta and see if they can figure out the problem between them.
