This is why property prices, mainly in limassol are sky high,

So these foreign individuals can meet the investment requirements.

These shiesters ruined the property market because even Bambolaki's, with his dilapidated property is trying to sell at super inflated prices. he see these new "luxury" builds going for millions and he wants a piece of it too.

Then when everything newly being built is for this purpose, you get a supply and demand problem.

The property developers are sweating now because from the 1st November this program will cease to exist and they are left holding the bag.

They are going to have to write down their valuations to realistic prices if they want to sell the property.

I was saying from the beginning, that this is going to end up becoming a scandal and will make the living situation harder for low and average earners.

Try buying a property or getting a mortgage in limassol on the average Cypriot salary. You cant.

Yeah, that is the point.

The purpose of this scheme was to contribute to help Cyprus's economy and recovery from the bailout.

what did we get instead?

some corrupt politicians, lawyers, property developers and realtors enriching themselves by selling EU-CY passports to the worlds questionable characters.

Then these dubious characters refer their friends and sell their stake in their original investments so they can get passports too.

These shiesters brought the countries reputation in disrepute and didnt do anything to benefit the economy.

It all starts with a British ex-cop in London.

I was just amazed at how easily they spilled the beans and compromised themselves to any Tom, dick and "billy" that happened to say his mate has got money.

By cunt you mean its literal meaning, a hole in a tree; like a gash where the tree divides, often where animals of the forest find refuge: i suppose?

...personally i like cunts, like a woman's pussy, just like i like cocksuckers; can't help it, being/"being" male, and all: are you suggesting that this is inappropriate behaviour, or unnatural?

There are all kinds of cunts, but be careful how you generalise.

All cunts are not so necessarily offending.

...as for the super-rich who buy these passports, do not despair because they buy and invest in property everywhere they can around the world; nothing much in that regard will change.

Cyprus remains for them an excellent place to facilitate exchange; although the 'feeling' of calling Cyprus their home has been denied to them.

...and Malta?

WhT I don’t understand is how some supposedly intelligent politicians are so stupid enough to meet up with underworld figures acting as a conduit of Chinese convicted felons.

I mean seriously people. We have the mafia in Australia. Like the actual Mafia with connections to Sicily etc, and friggin he’ll, they at least have brains, no way they will be seen talking to people they don’t know.

Yes I am really sorry that the property market has been taken beyond the reach of 90% of people because of these idiots. I warned you all long ago that by allowing all these rich Chinese and Russians and so on, you are affectively selling our country from under the feet of our children.

There is a great Australian Series called “The Underbelly”. It’s about the Australian underworld and Mafia. Based on true events and real characters.

It concentrated on the activities of the real deal Mafia and their associates and networks and how they operate in Australia. But they were not just Italian. Also Irish, and one of the head figures was the notorious Mr X who was Greek. No one would ever know anything about Mr X other than him being quite a clever business individual.

These people would not expose themselves to any Tom, dick and Billy. I’m amazed how these Cypriot politicians can be so stupid. It reminds me of Under rlly for the incompetent and stupid.

Look up Underbelly. It’s a great watch.

They were driven by massive shortages in government funds.

In 2018 the RoC had just managed to pay off the huge EU loan/debt so everything looked promising until Covid unexpectedly struck and ruined everything.

The passport scheme is/was one of the few legal mechanisms left to generate quick cash for the starving economy, but the people they placed to run this found it too easy to generate large amounts of quick cash so they got overzealous and it kinda evolved into what we are seeing today.

The EU was quite dumb to invent such a scheme… they should’ve foreseen the abuse that would’ve followed.
