Just noticed today that Varosha was opened by the military for people to visit. Can some one please explain what is this supposed to achieve???? I don’t get the logic to this! Can some one with knowledge on the Cyprus subject please enlighten us.

Aside from the political aspect there is the psychological one. "I give you permission to come see, but not touch, your house" is a form of sadism.

The one giving permission, ie showing dominance, gloats over the pain of the one who watches his house from a distance, lamenting his loss. And there are willing TC onlookers who see this, who know who built and who is entitled to the homes in Varosha, who stay silent. Many TCs also gloat at the spectacle.

It is one hell of a way to build a future partnership!

I find it disgusting and cringing regarding varosha but Both communities lost their properties in Cyprus as a whole not just GC.

Musti TCs suffered twice. The properties they received for exchange was not equal to what they have in the south.

I should have said, it is meant to scare the GC leadership to get a move on but it did not work and it has not worked.

Nothing will bring both factions together . All talk and there never will be action in my opinion. GC joined EU on the notion they will Weald power over Turkey . That back fired big time and you are convince Turkey will invade but look who is invading who your best friend PUTIN which you guys harbour all his dirty money. But now you are stuck whilst EU is fighting the real devil . Turkey might take the opportunity to set the record straight as you illegally joined EU as the convention states no country is permitted to join if it has unresolved border disputes which we have therefore your membership is void giving Turkey full rights to take back what belongs to her. If 2004 did not bring Anyone to the table leaving the TC s behind and tricking EU to join benefiting from all economic prosperity I think you deserve taunting. I don’t like it to be honest but if GC s are going to be crafty and misleading to EU showing your true colours and never once showing any intension to solve the issues. I don’t like what is being done but I don’t think either side are all innocent. I see both sides on an agenda but I think the Greeks are benefiting the most it’s obvious from the lifestyle they are enjoying. I see the GC similar to the Israelis up their own ass and cleansing the Palestinians without impunity and propaganda around the world to cover up lies. It’s exactly how the GC S behave towards the TCs. You see us beneath you just like the way Israel behaves. But the world will eventually see the truth. You can’t cover up lies and pretend we don’t exist like the Palestinians. That’s why I believe Turkey should act more aggressively towards the GCs and show you how much stronger the Turks are and take back the whole of Cyprus just like Putin is doing in Ukraine taking back what they conquered back.

From 2004 to 2022, Cyprus was a net contributor of EU funds. This is a fact, it wasnt until 2023 that Cyprus became a net receiver of EU funds and Cyprus is still not absorbing all of what is available.

I agree here, the GC's and the Greeks are living much better compared to the Turks and the TC's. Each have themselves to congratulate on that and each are responsible for their own prosperity..

I think you have got it backwards. For the past 50 years, the Turks are cleansing the TC's from Cyprus and Turkey is trying to turn the free areas of the republic in to gaza.

But the world will eventually see the truth.

You live in a warped reality, Cyprus is illegally occupied by Turkey. The Truth is, the TC's are political outcasts.

You can’t cover up lies and pretend we don’t exist like the Palestinians.

You live under Turkey's yoke in a Turkish military base on stolen land from Cyprus.

I used to be very pro unitary state, then I compromised for a BBF. Over the years, I have come to believe the best thing for Cyprus is to stay well away from any kind of union with the TC community.
