Turkey above all is the winner in all this, Russia it appears has withdrawn.
...yet the question remains, even as small as it has become since the modern Armenia was founded, so small now it may disappear by its own inertia; what was not a Genocide, or an effort at Ethnic Cleansing, because those terms did not exist then, never the less looks like it is about to be completed. Armenians deserve better than this brutality, the world will be a lesser place if "Thisness" in this case succeeds because 'we' looked the other way.
On the contrary RW, what Armenia is suffering today is because their aggression in the 90s when they attacked Azerbaijan and occupied Karabag.
Hrat Dink explains exactly what was going on in Turkey during what everybody refers to as genocide. His village had received a letter telling them they would have to move. And they moved. Certainly the Ottomans did not protect them during their move further east to current Armenia.
But in reality every action has a reaction. If you look at that region, Armenians did join with the Russians previously and drive out the Circassians from the Caucasus just a few decades before as well as helping the Russians occupy Eastern Anatolia after the WW1 when Turkey was occupied by Italy, France, Greece, the Swine and the Russians all taking control of some part of Turkey.
Having a 3 million population does mean they will disappear, because if it does 0ver 70 countries in the world are less than that and may suffer the same fate. Cyprus is also in that camp.
