It is true, as a union, they have struggled to reach consensus on various issues but it has also reached consensus on lots of things.
this is not the only criteria to measure how shite or not the EU is or isnt.
Russia will not attack Cyprus, and neither will the US.
Cyprus has nothing to worry about, she is an unsinkable aircraft carrier with relations that are better than ever with both of them.
The EU doesn’t even have a Military and even if it did, they will need to vote even when they are invaded on whether to defend themselves or not.
France is a superpower elect. Along with the US, they can put Erdowan in chains overnight and turn him into a puddy cat and have him litter trained in no time.
This is a misconception that does the rounds. The Turks in particular have held this misconception for a long time, thinking that they are the defenders of Europe. Which has lead them to miscalculate their steps in the eastern med.
The EU is made up of 27 countries and 12 of them are in the top 50 in terms of global fire power ranking.
No vote was needed for France and Greece to demonstrate that the EU is willing to defend itself and its interests when needed.
