Pelosi says independent commission will examine Capitol riot

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday that Congress will establish an independent, Sept. 11-style commission to look into the deadly insurrection that took place at the U.S. Capitol.

Pelosi said the commission will “investigate and report on the facts and causes relating to the January 6, 2021, domestic terrorist attack upon the United States Capitol Complex … and relating to the interference with the peaceful transfer of power."

In a letter to Democratic colleagues, Pelosi said the House will also put forth supplemental spending to boost security at the Capitol.

After former President Donald Trump’s acquittal at his second Senate impeachment trial, bipartisan support appeared to be growing for an independent commission to examine the deadly insurrection.

Investigations into the riot were already planned, with Senate hearings scheduled later this month in the Senate Rules Committee. Pelosi, D-Calif., asked retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré to lead an immediate review of the Capitol’s security process.

In her letter Monday, Pelosi said, “It is clear from his findings and from the impeachment trial that we must get to the truth of how this happened”.

Criminal charges in Georgia, for his phone call wanting a different election result, is one case that has already started.

The FBI, and the Justice Dept. also have investigations pending, Mr. McConnell also makes it clear, that except for the statute of limitations, there is nothing that can stop Criminal Prosecutions against him, if a Crime is involved.

Georgia had certified it’s election results on November 20th, 2020.

Trump phone recording took place on January 2nd, 2021, almost 6 weeks later when Trump was committing election fraud that Georgia finds him the 11,700+ votes he needed to overturn the results which he lost.

So he asked them to look into it and investigate.

So what’s the big deal?

No no, it goes way beyond that. You need to understand why the call was even secretly recorded because Lindsey Graham tried the same shit few weeks earlier as Trump and when Graham was confronted' by the media he called the Georgia’s election official a liar, because that’s what cunt politicians do.

It’s quite illegal to secretly record phone conversations without the other person’s knowledge or permission. At least so in Australia, I would therefore presume it’s the same in the US.

But I know why they recorded. They wanted to incriminate Trump but sadly there is no evidence to incriminate Trump. No evidence at all Trump had anything to do with Capitol Hill.

Unlike Mueller’s investigations where witnesses lied or did not cooperate with his inquiries on the Russians interference in US elections in 2016 because of Trump and Attorney General Barr, this time there will be a price to be paid by those who will lie or not cooperate.
