They can’t but this guy does have the inside info on what Australia is planning to do. According to him, they are working all kinds of contingencies and are fully accepting the possibility Australia will be isolating itself from the rest of the world for 5 years or more.

His point was, that according to him, we are blessed to be in Australia because Australia can basically put up a huge wall between itself and all countries. He said Australia and NZ have pretty much eradicated Covid, and barring any major mishap whilst we bring expats home, we will be fine and the Australian economy can move forward on its own steam. He predicts it will cost us a recession but it will be mild. The jobs lost will mostly be in tourism and transport like the Airline Industry for instance.

He was basically saying we could cut all ties with the world and come out the other end relatively on our feet. Other countries won’t fare so well.

So he seems to lack confidence in the vaccine.

Anyway, the picture he painted isn’t a very good one. But we will be able to keep Covid out. Which means people here can live their normal lives in the most part.
