What is the 14th Amendment? Congress mulls legislation to remove those who 'engaged in insurrection'

Amid the continuing fallout from last week’s deadly siege on the U.S. Capitol, Democrats are forging ahead with legislation to remove Republican lawmakers for inciting the riot.
While there has been focus on President Trump’s possible impeachment and the use of the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, some House Democrats say they will invoke the 14th Amendment to call for the removal of Trump and congressional Republicans who helped incite the insurrection through their push to invalidate the results of the 2020 presidential election.
“If we allow insurrection against the United States with impunity, with no accountability, we are inviting it to happen again,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” Sunday.
What is the 14th Amendment?
The 14th Amendment was adopted just after the Civil War to set terms for the readmission of former Confederate states into the Union.
What does it say?
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says no elected official “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion”:
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

what I might add is that the punks on the left also damaged lots of government property and innocent people's too.
It is just that the democratic officials looked the other way while it was happening.
They would rather help them by trying to defund the police.
Unfortunately you’re being deceptive again Max… because lots of the punks you mention were arrested and some still serving sentences, and I don’t have the time to go over each and every incident to prove it to you.
The root of the problem is that you are sore because your favorite political party has screwed itself proper; severely weakened in every avenue, and no doubt you’ve realized that it’ll take ages for it to recover.
But you can only blame them for hiring a narcissistic TV prima donna to represent them in 2016… and that’s when the downfall began.

Fortunately, many institutions in and out of the USA are taking the insurrection of the Capitol Building far more seriously that our friends here and are ready to punish the guilty financially by refusing to do any business with Trump or give financial donations to the members of the Banana Republican Party.

This is nothing new,
Supporters of the democratic party, wherever they have some power and influence are continuing their cancel culture against republicans.
Like they have been for the past 4 years.
from places like college campuses to social media platforms and the mainstream media. And they would even go as so far as to create a twitter style witch hunt to get people fired from their jobs because the disagree with their opinions.
You think this is good? It is more Erdogan's style and this has contributed massively to dividing the country.
Things like capitol hill were to be anticipated but probably worse to come if the dems keep push further. Impeaching trump will probably end in disaster,
