All I’m gonna say is… in my next life (if there is one) I’d like to be born Italian!
Great cars, great bikes, great music, great history, great archaeology, nice women… probably the only bad thing is their cuisine as I don’t think highly of pasta!
Don’t get me wrong… I do enjoy my spaghetti but it’s not like I want to have 500 variations of it!
Italy always struggle against physical teams that like to play the long Paul out to the wings and stretch the defence, with crosses into the box.
If Italy played Australia, which I agree just don’t have the same pedigree, they may win but it would be a hard win for them.
If they play a team like Greece or Cyprus it would be a walloping.
The English play a strong physical game and use their pace, long ball and prone the wings. The Italians don’t like that and prefer to slow the momentum right down.
Paphiti, I’m starting to doubt you’ve ever watched a football match, in fact I doubt you know the correct shape of a foot-ball!
I’m just talking from experience.
The last time they played Australia in the Wirld Cyp they nearly had their asses handed to them. The goal the scored was ref assisted and the Aussies hit the post twice and opened them up like a can of tuna.
So my conclusion is they don’t like playing certain teams that play the English style of football which is fast, played out wide with long balls, and crosses from out wide in the air.
You watch an English Super league game and look at the ferocious speed it’s played at and compare that with the much more composed Serie A.
You go to a Cyprus First Division game and then go to an A League game. It’s a different type of football and teams that play like in Cyprus and Italy just get rattled when faced with a physical opponent.
There is a reason why the English FA games are far better viewing than Serie A.
