Both my children have Cypriot passports can I travel ?

Postby noproblemmyf » Wed Jul 01, 2020 7:57 pm

Both my children have Cypriot passports but I have a uk passport, I am named as the mother on their ID, will I be able to enter Cyprus, I would be traveling out first with them and their Cypriot father would be coming out at a later date. I know that uk citizens are not currently allowed to enter Cyprus but does this situation make it possible for me to enter with them ?Also I understand we must all have negative covid-19 negative test results. Would really appreciate any advice. Thank you

I can only suggest that you make inquiries with the Cyprus High Commission in the UK.

Great advice from Tim, above,

According to my understanding.

As it stands, travelling from the UK to Cyprus is currently prohibited. The only exception to this are Cypriot nationals or permanent residents of Cyprus.

Your children can travel to Cyprus and be tested in Cyprus for the virus because they have Cypriot passports (nationality).

From around mid July to the beginning of August, things might change and the UK may be included in the list of eligible countries to travel from.

You will however, be required to present a corona virus test certificate, that shows negative signs of the virus before entry. The test should be taken within 72 hours before entering the republic of Cyprus.

I dont think you can travel with them at the current time.

Cyprus will let you in no problem. The problem is the country you reside in. So you will need to contact British Authorities to see what they have in place.

We have this issue. Getting to Cyprus is easy. Cyprus will let us in. Problem is, Australian Authorities will stop us at the border. They will stop you even with a Cypriot passport because we are permanent residents in Australia and they could get stroppy when you flash the Cyprus passport as well because they know you have an Aussie passport and ask you questions why you are using this to travel and remind you that if you travel overseas with a foreign passport you may not be entitled to Australian Government assistance. if you manage to slip through, then problem is coming back. You will be given mandatory isolation if you come from Cyprus.

So not easy going to Cyprus. Yes I know it doesn't make sense. Australia and Greece have signed some kind of treaties, but nothing with Cyprus making it very hard.

However, no issue going to Greece whatsoever. No issue goig to most EU countries, except for UK, Italy, Spain and France (and Cyprus). Cyprus has effectively been grouped with them, even though they don't have a Chy-na Virus problem.

One way of doing it is traveling to Greece. Only have tickets to Greece as your final stop. We normally do this anyway. Travel on Australian Documents.

Then when in Greece, get return tickets to Cyprus. Travel on Cypriot Documents so that the Cypriot stamp isn't seen on your other passport.

However, they get you to fill out a declaration before the plane even lands in Australia which are collected by customs. They ask you what countries you have traveled to. You will have to not divulge Cyprus. Now that is a lot easier said than done because if they catch you lieing, and no one really knows how they collect information, then you are stuffed.

So don't just contact the Cypiot Consulate. You will also need to contact the British Foreign Office to see what they have in place, because is a double edged sword.

potentially, you will be fined and/or charged for falsifying Federal Government documents and that's a very serious charge. Also, you get placed on a watch list. And it could have repercussions when travelling to certain countries like the US and Canada. Yes they share information.

It is far more easier not travelling to Cyprus and sleeping easy at night.

This is what these restrictions have done. It has made it dead easy for jurisdictions like Australia to control the travel habits of Australian Citizens. If they don't want Australians to travel to Cyprus, they now just use the Chy-na Virus excuse to restrict travel to Cyprus.

Onya's all you cupcakes and do gooders.
