Yes .... War Hammer is the most over-priced hobby my son ever had. We must have kits totalling a few thousands now. It took me months to gather up all the bits and bobs, paints glues, tools, beady things, fuzzy things, monstrous things, over-priced mags and game plans (never referred to  ). I am so glad he is over that now (lasted 2 years). :D

I have a feeling the shops won't be around much longer in the UK ...

Don't think I'll ever be over my obsession with strategy games and RPGs ... be they on PC or not.

At the moment, I am addicted to the Internet smack that is World of Warcraft - both my wife and I play it - and we have discovered Magic The Gathering.

Hmm 3 years.. it's funny ain't it? :)

I came from Greece back then and I thought I could start my old hobbies,DnD and MtG, I used to play with friends.

I still got my dnd books (printed versions but mostly pdfs) and I still got my MtG cards around. :)

I got always ready a red direct damage deck and and a blue-artifact deck that were my two favorites <:)

Mind though that we are talking about 10 years ago ;)
My cards are mostly Ice Age, Visions, Mirage, 4th and 5th edition..
I played DnD in 2 and 3rd edition.

Anyway I live in limassol but occasionally I come to Larnaca for business so I might visit the shop :)

I haven't played AD&D in twenty five years. I miss it.
First started playing when I was about seven years old when there was just Basic sets, Greyhawk and the Monster Manual just came out. I remember when the DM Guide, PH and FF books first came out too, that was way cool.

To LeoVirgo:
I also played WoW for a couple of years at top level (end game content, 25man raids, 4-5 days per week). I stopped cause it's a repeated process that is also accompanied by a constant change in game rules to keep the interest up. I stopped last August when we were raiding Black Temple up till last boss. I was well equipped, meaning only Black temple could offer me some improvements. Now, after Lich King expansion, all that effort I put in the game is nullified: a fellow gamer who continued does DOUBLE the damage I did back in August... As much as I liked WoW I don't like being manipulated into doing the same thing over and over again.

To Novus:
Unfortunately MtG was designed to make WotC rich. New collections come up too often and official tournaments are deliberately made to promote new collections only.
What is even more terrible is WotC bought TSR and the DnD franchise and we are having a similar situation with DnD. New books new rules new supplements almost every two years. It's good to have development but not of that kind. Too much money needed for something started as a really simple pen and paper game :)

Johnnyp is right about the MtG way of thinking. I myself was playing Vampire the Eternal Struggle (VTES) while in the UK and it seemed very strange to me that older cards in a game cannot be used in tournaments.

However, you can still play using ye olde sets with friends - just not in tourneys ...

There are a couple of people playing with 8th edition cards (we are on the 10th edition now).

It's true though that because of the way the game is developed, imho, it nullifies lore (a VTES playing friend said they go round this problem by having NO lore!) and also the balance of certain combos is "broken" if you use different sets in the same game ...

In any case, what I always advise is to buy a ready made deck and play with that for a while to minimise costs. If you like it, buy boosters to make it better.

YuGiOh is by far the most popular TCG in Cyprus atm, but is relatively simple compared to MtG. Having said that, the "legal" sets for tourneys are not the ones from only 2-3 years past - rather you can use older cards as well ...

I am looking for people wanting to play Dungeons to get a group going :D.
