I bet it did, the last time I saw something to that extreme for a fiat currency was Brexit and the pound tanked 20 cents to the Dollar in a matter of hours after the referendum.

That was unprecedented for the GBP but a $7 appreciation for the lira in a matter of hours is a new record for the currency.

Anyone buying or selling lira near the bottom must have been shitting their pants.

You have done it again. TL did not appricate 7 dollars you idiot, TL appreciated 7TL aganist the dollar. Gavole. I would give up looking at finces if I was you and return back to toilet cleaning boy.

Now Turks are trying to sell off their stocks after it had appreciated while the TL was going down, so that they can buy foreign currencies as it is cheaper than it was a day earlier. But of course, it keeps triggering a break to stop trading in the stock market to prevent a run on the stocks. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place for many Turks.

Good read RW.
I conclude the correct word for Turkey is not bankrupt. It's broke.
Bankrupt is when you don't have enough money to pay your debts.
Broke is when you don't have enough money to survive.
Which of the 2 is worse, I am not sure, I think broke is worse. Let the economists of the forum tell us

It is indeed and Cyprus is also at the centre of the universe.

You borrow to get by knowing there are better times coming. In the case of Turkey you go to uncle sam and ask for a hand out, which he does give so long as you are a good boy and look after their American interests when required.

But surely this gain has nothing to do with the situation on the ground, Clearly there are other forces at play which need to be looked at. I wil lstart a thread to look into the financial world and what is wrong with it,
