Onions, canned tomatoes, olive oil, potatoes, and rice are all checked!

Plenty of vegetables, long life milk, cereals, and also she got me 3 kilos of my favourite Louganis - bless her cotton socks. :D

My bottom draw in one of the kitchen cabinets has 8 bottle holders, so I keep them full at all times with 1 liter olive oil each, and this is just normal for me and not just now. The 9th olive oil bottle is “in use” cabinet.

What is Louganis?

We get a 10L tin of the stuff and we just fill a 1L bottle as needed.

Typo because I’m posted via phone as I’m out and about. I get home tomorrow.

It was meant to be Loukanika - there are these Cypriot Suasages I like from a small business in Adelaide.

Back to the real world - I am not sure if this is 100% correct but I have been informed that:

Australia is about to go into total lock down.

When we were in Sydney last month I logged into the Harbourside network. Ironically, this morning I got an email from them assuring that absolutely everything was perfectly normal there. That was just after viewing a video of people fighting over bog rolls (or some such) in a local supermarket.

Everything is fine here in a Australia.

But at the same time we have idiots as well doing stupid things and yeh there was a situation where 2 idiots were fighting over toilet paper.

I’m in Sydney now and life goes on as normal but if you watch the ABC (Australian BBC) you would think we are approaching the end times and they are whipping people up into a frenzy.

Although there is a feeling something big is about to be announced in the very near term. I believe they are about to shut all schools and universities. Probably also reduce public gatherings down to 100 outdoors and 10 indoors.

ANZAC Day has been cancelled.

There is other concerns that there will be complete lockdown but I think that’s OTT.

Everything seems completely normal. The car-park was less than half full and when we got inside there were no empty shelves to be seen and just the normal number of shoppers, mostly locals. The staff were all wearing masks and latex gloves and the bakery was shut off .... no more slicing your own bread, you point at what you want and they cut it for you. Those signs and the fact the little coffee shop was closed, were the only signs of anything different! We got everything we wanted, plus some.

We then decided to get some face masks and a pack of latex gloves. We have two pharmacies available and neither had face masks but we got the gloves with no problem. I then topped the tank up on the car, again all very quite with no restrictions and drove straight up to the pump to fill up.

The DIY centre is open as are most other shops with the exception of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. Those closed all had notices on the door (Didn't stop to see what the notices said.) The only sign of police was an accident where some idiot drove his Mercedes into the storm water drain at the side of the road, but no one hurt, just a pretty big repair bill for someone! Didn't see a single APC or tank, not even an army lorry. A couple of Cypriot 'Air Force' helicopters just flew over, but that happens almost every day and at more or less the same time ....... and they didn't have any Hellfire missiles that I could see!

So it seems us backward Third World communities have a far more laid back approach to this virus, than the first world countries like US, UK, Canada, the EU and of course ......... Australia, where it seems that the apocalypse is apparently becoming a 'Real World' , (a month at least), lockdown event according to some information I received and implied the Aussies are likely to soon to be seeing armed troops on the street shooting citizens that dare to leave there enforced isolation to grab the government food aid being thrown out of APC by the military into the front garden. But then the 'someone' who gave me that impression is always wrong, so I think the prediction is the same as all the others he makes ...... bullshit, driven by propaganda!

Australia isn’t laid back.

They are taking the threat very seriously and are worried about exponential growth.

Most Australians are very laid back and no there isn’t a run on toilet paper. The idiots that caused the run on some items were the Chinese, and Indians.

Having said that, the Government here is planning some big announcements.

I just came back from a Sydney Restaurant had a nice dinner with good company and a couple of glasses of gin.

The Restaurant was nearly full and people were just going on with life and happy. I’m back in my hotel room now and tomorrow I have a late sign on, and 3 sectors and then a dead head to ADELAIDE. :D

Countries to watch right now:

Spain, Germany, Switzerland, USA, UK, Netherlands, Austria, Iran - these countries had very bad days today.

Switzerland now with the highest incidence of Coronavirus.

Italy and France reported no new cases today. Could this mean they are on top of it? Hope so. If they are, then whatever they are doing is working.

No, some countries update the numbers closer to midnight, some update throughout the day. You need to check the stats Aussie morning time to get a grip on the previous day

EDIT: "closer to GMT/midnight"

I usually check the Aussie statistics in the evening because I was always under the impression they probably update their stats late evening.

But I checked around lunchtime once and found they had done an update then as well. Task they at least upfmdate twice a day. Probably also update in the morning but don’t know.

Interesting fact: Australian confirmed cases have doubled in the last 4 days. So the exponential growth may be just kicking in. We have a higher incidence than the US which is alarming but still we are not anywhere near some of our European friends. But our Government seems very spooked or concerned.

They are talking about tens of thousands of dead as it runs its course over the next few months as a worst case scenario. Then after that doomsday story, they also claim to have a vaccine and have started human testing. I just don’t understand the media. Oh and then they say the vaccine trials will finish in 18 months. :?

The Swiss government’s plans for a countrywide lockdown from midnight tonight. Both my yearly checkup with my doctor and my dentist both called me today to cancel Thursday’s appointments. Most places are to close as well as the borders. There are many day workers coming in from Italy and Germany, so by shutting bars, restaurants and hotels for 2-3 weeks would prevent day workers having to cross the border.

No, Italy is still way in front with a contamination rate that is 50% higher than Switzerland #2

I noticed that the calculated field "Tot cases / 1M Pop" sometimes is blank for Italy for unknown reasons. All microstates with less than (probably around) 1 million people all together will also remain blank. San Marino for instance would have scored 3000 (6-7 times higher than Italy), Iceland 600 (35% higher than Italy)

Oh, Italy just updated their number tally. They are in deep sadly for them, and far worse off than Switzerland. I had false hope they had somehow turned things round. Sadly, the virus is well and truly bringing Italy down to its knees.
