On the issue of confirmation bias more generally Tim, lets take a look at one example from Paphitis because often understanding is found by looking at extreme ends of spectrum and because he is big enough to take it.

When Paphitis links to a BBC article that explicitly says Australia was not the first country to impose a partial travel ban on non citizens travelling from china and uses it to prove his statement that Australia was the first country to do so, what do you see ? I see something akin to an extreme degree of confirmation bias. Am I the 'crazy one' here in seeing such ?

Too many reports flying around about this. The last one I read said that they did lab tests on what temp actually killed the virus and it reached, from memory, 90 DegC. The report concluded that they realise it was in a lab, but if in a lab it takes this level of temp to kill it, why not out of the lab.

I don't have the link, because I would need to hoard hundreds of links, i read them and move on trying to formulate a picture of what is going on.

B25, How can we achieve 90*C outside a lab to kill the virus? That is almost boiling point for water. Even in Death Valley, getting 50*C is not very common.

Just one more thing 'we do not yet know' with any serious degree of certainty or scientific consensus as far as I can tell. What scares me more than not yet knowing is apparent 'certainty' in others that they in fact do know. Even more so if the apparent reason why they know for certain is because it is the opposite of what big pharma would like.

This is stupid.
Covid-19 is less deadly than the Anatolian terrorists of 1974.

? Er not to just about everywhere in the world other than Cyprus ? Nor does it seem to me we can say so in the case of Cyprus, only that 'so far it is' ? Or am I not getting you ?

Clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine will begin on people from Thursday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said.

The Oxford vaccine, called ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, is made from a harmless chimpanzee virus that has been genetically engineered to carry part of the coronavirus.

You do know what a "trial" is right? :)

Give me a whistle when they actually work...

Even at water's boiling point it would "deactivate" the virus but it won't die!

So the scolding would be for nothing!

I got a call about an hour ago, that my 68 year old brother in London with the coronavirus has finally been taken off the ventilator after 16 days and is able to breath on his own, but still asleep with oxygen mask on. He should wake up sometime tomorrow. Family very happy at last, but he will remain in the hospital for further 2-3 weeks longer to recover. :D
