The UK government has halted the publication of the daily number of coronavirus deaths over concerns that "statistical flaws" might be rendering the data inaccurate.

The pause in publication was decided by the Department of Health and Social Care after the health secretary, Matt Hancock, ordered a review into the figures.

A study by academics published late this week suggested that the toll is subject to "over-exaggeration" because of the way Public Health England (PHE) measures deaths.

A statement on the government's website read: "The secretary of state has today, 17 July, asked PHE to urgently review their estimation of daily death statistics.

"Currently the daily deaths measure counts all people who have tested positive for coronavirus and since died, with no cut-off between time of testing and date of death.

Is this not how cancer illnesses are counted and heart condition illnesses are counted and diabetic illnesses are counted and so on! :wink:

No. :roll:

You think if you have a heart attack and then get run over by a bus six months later they record the death as heart attack... :?

You are wrong. Cancer patient remains a cancer patient until he/she dies from cancer related death much later. How many times have you heard that Mr. so and so has been battling cancer for many years before dying.

So, how many Corvid -19 “recovered” patients died under a bus but counted as died from coronavirus.? :D

Your article does not mention anyone dying under a bus by the way. Do not add anything to the article you have posted if it’s not already written, for you to make exaggerated statements. It may be true in another article, but not in the one you want ride with. :roll:

I know for an absolute 1,000% FACT that I am correct and you are wrong... :wink:

FFS! If somebody has cancer for years (a friend is just about to die from it after 10 years BTW) of course they get put down as a cancer death if the cancer kills them...

If they get run over by a bus while fighting cancer they do not - you are now simply making this up as you go along ErLolz, I mean Kiks.... :lol:

Sorry about your cancer I’ll friend.

The point is, once a cancer patient, always a cancer patient, even when not sick all the time from it.

No, you are completely wrong! :lol:

You are as wrong as Bordo believing Labour would win the election or CoCo believing Hunt would be the next Conservative leader.... :wink:

It simply doesn't work that way, hence the outrage at the PHE Covid figures...

What is bizarre (and I can't be arsed to look up the figures at the moment) is that they apply some statistical formula to every single death.... In the UK anyway.

So when somebody dies (from any cause, bus runneth over, cancer, murdered, etc.), they are counted as something like 0.2% of 'Alcohol Related Death'... And probably some % of smoking related and some % of some other shite (obesity?)...?

So when you see the figures of x,000 people dieing from booze and x,000 from the fags many of those would never had a drink or a smoke.... The whole thing is a farce...

But no, they don't count people run over by a bus as a cancer death because they had cancer... :wink:

Queenslanders are our Bogan hick red necks - a bit like the Paphites in Cyprus.

It’s just a bit of Aussie parochialisms.

We could be going for herd immunity in Victoria.

What you are not getting is that if COVID is anything like SARS or MERS and a vaccine can’t be found, then we have no choice but to open up. Right now, it is illegal for Australians to travel to any country in the world without a valid reason. I just checked to see about the 14 countries we are allowed to travel to but it seems I’m mistaken. We are not allowed to leave Australia.

That is a frustrating thing. I have an uncle in Cyprus who is 103. I don’t mean to be selfish but I do feel the heavy hand of the law where my rights on free movement are now non existent.

The thing is, I would rather move to the USA with my family than be stuck in a country like this. The way I feel is that when a country goes Orwellian like this, I am starting to feel like I’m a pleb in a NAZI state, where we have no rights at all.

So USA is looking remarkably very appealing. I fear the police state more than the virus.

Victoria=Mexico
Melbourne =Mexico City
Victorians=Mexicans

I have been to Melbourne, so no point me going to Mexico City in the future then. :D

It’s just a bit of fun. Victoria is the State non Victorians love to hate but it isn’t real. Just fun.

Melbourne is my favourite Aussie City. That and Adelaide. Heaps better than Sydney.

I’ve very much enjoyed Melbourne. Stayed an extra day so that I could visit the Queen Victoria market since it was closed the day I wanted to see it. Cool market. I also went to Melbourne Cup Day. It was great to see people all dressed up for the occasion.

My brother almost died from Covid-19 and even though he no longer tests positive for the virus, he is in no way 100 % well from that illness, which he could suffer blood clot or kidney failure because he had Covid-19. If he were to drop dead today either from blood clot or kidney failure, it is because of Covid-19 which he is very concerned about it.

You are lucky to have experienced the Melbourne Cup. That’s the race that stops the nation.

Workplaces shut down virtually and the nation stops.

Cities like Melbourne and Adelaide have a different feel to Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Melbourne and Adelaide are very European, and cultural.

Sydney and Brisbane just lack that soul.

I was in Adelaide back in the early 90s when Melbourne took the Aussie F1 GP away from them. I couldn’t believe the language on the radio about it, Sounded like Lordo. :shock: :lol:

As a visitor, I enjoyed all the cities and stops from Adelaide to Sydney by car along the southern coastal route 3 years ago.

Oh Shit! That almost sparked a civil war!

The Adelaide Grand Prix was the best in the world. Best street track. When they lost it to Melbourne you could be murdered in Adelaide for being a Victorian. :lol:

Btw, there is only 1 P3 left flying now at your old work place. It’s a test bed right now for experimental equipment under development. It’s one of the most secretive platforms because of the stuff that is being tested on it.

I’m happy they are keeping it as a test platform. But you can’t get onboard it.

Here is an interesting statistic which I heard today but seems to be covered up.

Each year, there is an average of 3500 suicides in Australia. Mostly adult male men by a long mile.

Since the March lock down, there has been just over 1000 suicides in a 10 week period. Therefore, we are on track for 5000 suicides - a significant increase of about 1500.

Is this due to the lock downs? If it is, then suicide is by far the bigger threat to our society than Chy-na Virus. But you wouldn’t know it because the media won’t tell us.

When I was there they had a bunch of IDF types working on the P3s. Their ESM system was Israeli. Pretty good too I believe.
