Yes, I heard some hysterical reporting about Brazil on this morning's Today programme - once a source a rational information - from the Bill Gates Foundation-funded BBC. So many cases, shock horror! (Sounds like a high figure until you realize that Brazil's population is more than 200 million and the number of cases is a tiny proportion of that.) But ... what's the problem with a lot of cases of a flu-like virus with an infection fatality ratio less than that of the common flu? It happens every year.

Thanks for posting. You couldn't make the case for common sense better in six minutes. It hadn't been censored yet when I watched it, thankfully.

Indeed, plus the news from the UK today that you can never recover from Covid! :o

The way PHE records the cases, if you have tested positive (even without symptoms) you are recorded as a Covid death even if you die in a car crash 6 months later... :?

The numbers could be inflated by 100%!

Never recover? Crickey, I think I've had it so I must be doomed. I wonder how I managed that 25-mile hike up at Troodos in less than four hours last month, with me being at death's door? At the age of 64.

I struggle to get my underpants on without falling over. Socks? I could do with a ventilator donning those.  And you think you've got problems?

You know, it would make so much more sense for Bill Gates and the big Pharma to look for a vaccine to the killer common cold than the silly Covid-19 as they can make $$$$ trillions $$$$ since more people are affected, no?

People are used to the common cold and know it is relatively harmless if annoying, so even they with all the clout at their disposal would be unable to dress it up as the new black death.

CY Health ministry says there are no Covid patients being treated in hospital...
Yet there are new positive cases nearly every day.
Nothing makes sense anymore.

...i suspect we are moving into an era of extraordinary development, something like the roaring twenties. If this lockdown was "planned" based on its economic consequence, this idea is not so far fetched, a vast amount of money is to be spent.

...what efforts will be made beyond a return to "normal", will be how "normal" is defined.

...and what with the bigger threat of Climate Change, Water scarcity (and food), Ocean Acidification, Population Growth, the Identity that makes these changes also evolves.

...who are "we"? Indeed, collectively, who are the "others", not "us". Here, with this pandemic it is being witnessed. The "Great" countries fail us and themselves. Their contemporaries when it comes to Leadership show their qualities quite lacking, too. Corruption still divides us as "have" and "have not" politically. That "Democracy", and, the People as people are ignored (for the most part) in affect, by their elites; Communist or Capitalist.

Yet, there are bigger enemies than each other (manipulated or not), this much is clear.

This threat (COVID19) is beyond any National, or Political identity; it is an existential threat.

What with the trillions and trillions to be spent around the globe, because of it, naturally, recovery will mean building for a better future.

Like anything, nothing stays the same; everything either adapts or ends.

...i am (counter-intuitively) still Hopeful.

United Airlines to lay off 36000 staff.

The economic impact is by far more than any health impact. People are going to look back on this and see this is the time of the great depression. The time their families security and econoic well being was destroyed. The time when many lose their home to the banks. The time we started to eat canned food rather than fresh meat and vegetables.

Sadly, 80% of the world's population is in that boat. Living week to week and having the rug pulled from beneath them.

All for a "flu" that has a death rate less than 1%

What I find is that it is the public servants who are calling for the restrictions. They think this is all great as all they have to do is work from home. They still get their money. They pretend to work at their home computer whilst watching Netflix and take their dog for a walk. Whilst the rest of us who actually support the economy and pay their wages are wondering what the future holds. A case of the haves and have nots.

For Aviation Workers, Hospitality and Tourism, we are the first to be impact and the last to recover. Hundreds of thousands of people with uncertain futures. Also the building sector.

I've been infected at least Aviation wise. very lucky that till now, building is ok. But for how long. I can see the ass falling out of this as well in about 12 months time if this continues, and could be looking at paper losses of around 1 million to 2 million if we decide to flip stock. In other words sell for less for what we invested into the land purchasing it and building. I have never seen this before. My father did see something like it in 1988 when Australia was in recession and we dropped money then but we have had a good run since. But the losses this time round are potentially unprecedented.

We could suspend operation after our constructions are complete, and have completed stock and bank exposures of several million between myself and my partner. Some prjects are being moth balled indefinitely. The impact also falls on our staff and contractors.

So I am very much in the Trump and Sweden camp. Economy before anything. But obvious some precautions and looking after the vulnerable with lock downs.

What we have now is unsustainable. It can't continue for too much longer after this year. This is what everyone doesn't get.
