Sounds a little defensive to me Sotos ;) Sounds a bit like ignore the message because of the messenger. Sounds a bit like let's not as Cypriots consider this regardless of if other countries are better or worse, cause it may be a bit too messy ?

There is no "message".

Russia is a country that has helped us in the UN Security Council and elsewhere many times. So we are also helping them, where possible. We didn't recognize the annexation of Crimea and we are in line with EU's policies, but beyond that we obviously see in a positive way a country that has supported us on many occasions. Where is the problem in that? What is the "message"? That Cyprus should support the interests of those who are against Cyprus, like the UK? Ermm... no! If the Americans and British have an issue with the Russians or the Chinese that is their problem, not ours. And now that UK is out of the EU, I hope that the EU will develop a more independent foreign policy from that of the USA.

And as far as investments from Russia goes, again, what is the message? If Bezos or Bill Gates want to invest in Cyprus they are welcomed too. Just as the Russian money are welcomed in the UK,the Netherlands and everywhere else. So what is the message?

With all due respect, but you don't have the type of sovereignty or perhaps power to stand up to Chy-na. Which makes you risc for the picking and in their pocket.

That's a very dangerous spot. Especially with a country like Chy-na and it's CCP. So many countries in your league (like Fiji) who are on the yellow brick road, are now treated like serfs.

That's the difference with Chy-na and the US. The US won't pull the rug under your feet.

Russia doesn't operate like Chy-na either. Give Chy-na an in, and they will rape you. there is no country like them.

Have I ever mentioned that you are very unique, Paphitis?

You’re the only person on the planet that can name a country in Oceania that can stand up to China!

No doubt you can point out the inaccuracies in the data and/or conclusions...?

Or shall we just wait for ErLolz to do it...?

It’s a given that some countries are over-reporting while others are under-reporting, by a certain percentage that cannot be determined.

This is due to standard human error and/or socio-cultural behavior, but human behavior is so varied and complex that it cannot possibly be quantified so as to extract perfect data!

The end result however, or the sum of all the data; is pretty much balanced and close to the truth.

What is ludicrous is not the data… but the notion that 220 odd sovereign nations have simultaneously conspired to wreck their economies because somebody "very clever" told them to!

But nobody could’ve possibly known how infectious and lethal this virus was at the onset so most governments took drastic precautions anyway, just in case!

It’s no good coming here now armed with some hindsight, telling us that we may have overreacted because not enough people have died to justify the measures!

The question now for you and all the other “clever dicks” out there is…

Were you able to offer accurate information about this virus 3 months ago, so that governments could’ve made better-informed decisions?

The answer is NO!

So SHUT UP and be grateful that most governments have proven responsible enough to take good precautions just in case, because the next virus may not be as kind to us as this one!

Well Australia is in Oceania and is continuing to stand up against Chy-na. Despite the threat of sanctions and tariffs, we see it as they can't do more than what they already have to hurt us and the world. A lot of people think this Virus is man made, and that Chy-na either deliberately or inadvertently released it upon the world. Our politicians are taking a very hard line internationally, and are calling for an investigation. A motion that is now supported by many countries, including the big powers of the EU (Germany, France, UK, Austria, Netherlands and so on).

If Cyprus doesn't call for an investigation, it's because you are too small and don't have the sovereignty to do so because you already sold out and are in Chy-na's pocket. Compare that to Australia which isn't for sale. We see beyond the money. We are proud Australians and a proud country that will stand against Chy-na and what they did and at the very least call for an investigation which is well warranted so we can get to the bottom of all this.
