Sounds a little defensive to me Sotos Sounds a bit like ignore the message because of the messenger. Sounds a bit like let's not as Cypriots consider this regardless of if other countries are better or worse, cause it may be a bit too messy ?
There is no "message".
Russia is a country that has helped us in the UN Security Council and elsewhere many times. So we are also helping them, where possible. We didn't recognize the annexation of Crimea and we are in line with EU's policies, but beyond that we obviously see in a positive way a country that has supported us on many occasions. Where is the problem in that? What is the "message"? That Cyprus should support the interests of those who are against Cyprus, like the UK? Ermm... no! If the Americans and British have an issue with the Russians or the Chinese that is their problem, not ours. And now that UK is out of the EU, I hope that the EU will develop a more independent foreign policy from that of the USA.
And as far as investments from Russia goes, again, what is the message? If Bezos or Bill Gates want to invest in Cyprus they are welcomed too. Just as the Russian money are welcomed in the UK,the Netherlands and everywhere else. So what is the message?
