We had a chance in 2004, and again in 2017 not only to solve the ports issue and Varosha but unfortunately our friends in the GC establishment which includes the Church and their friends in the media saw to it that it remained as is.

I do live in hope that one it will return to what it should be. My hope levels fluctuate though depending on may things.

What a stupid article, read the first sentence and gave it a miss. So tell me something RW. "Lordo is setteled but you are not"? What exactly do you mean by that? And please, do not answer "in riddles" PLease answer as "you" not you. Maybe you can answer as "greek" or a Greek?

Let me remind you about something that's real and I mean it's fucking seriously real. You invited Turkiye to fulfil its obligations and it did. And in doing so you fucked yourselves up good and proper. So you are not settled, I say "so fucking what"? What are you going to do about it?
possession is nine tenths of the law!!! Get over it and learn to live with it!!!!

...let me remind you that not all Greeks are "Greeks", and no denying it, there is a big difference between Turkish Cypriots and "Cypriot Turks"; it's not hard to understand, unless "you" have accepted the mythic reality both "Greeks" and "Turks" espouse accordingly. I/i do not; you/"You" have settled: i cannot answer as "Me", according to "You" ("Greek" and "Turkish") Cypriots do not exist.

I asked you to post a response in plain, simple and easy to understand English. You smoke that shit then come on here with full of crap. Please answer me;

1. You say Lordo is settled but you are not. What do you mean by that? You are in Canada he is in England, so please elaborate.
2. Turkiye has settled quarter of a million mainland Turks on the island and have invested $billions so how do you plan on changing this fact?
3. From where I'm sitting, north London not far from Palmers Greek, ooops sorry, Palmers Green I reckon things will not change for the rest of time, you upset Turkiye and in doing so you fucked yourselves and you fucked a good majority of TC's too. Every time I go back to Cyprus it changes at a jaw dropping rate. Every month there's a new 5 star hotel/casino opening. These are not just your usual 100 room run of the mill hotels. These are $500 million+ 500-1000 rooms monster projects and they are full with GC's, Israelis and at weekends mainland Turks. Mate, I don't know when you last visited Cyprus but let me tell you, if and when you do you are in for a big shock. And guess what? All this is your own doing? You just didn't know how good a place you were in, you wanted more and more and now look at you.

...it's the narrative. "You"/You have a narrative, and quite comfortable with it. Conspiracies may abound about many political topics, but on the Problem in Cyprus in your mind it seems things are clear just as they are.

2. Turkiye has settled quarter of a million mainland Turks on the island and have invested $billions so how do you plan on changing this fact?

..."i" don't have to, that is to say the Republic of Cyprus; but Turkey does. It is not difficult to imagine the changes that will be made; many will have homes instead of houses to live in, others will return to Turkey because they want to remain "Turkish". I suppose for the billionaires and their investments not much will change, except that they will pay for water, electricity, and taxes promptly, unlike as it is today.

3. You just didn't know how good a place you were in, you wanted more and more and now look at you.

..."You", "you", "you", "you"; who? Not me, neither "being" "Greek" or "Turkish". Like the "Greeks" and the "Turks" you ignore Cypriots.

Woof woof indeed RW.

More relevant than ever before. On November 10, 1978, the so-called American-British-Canadian plan to solve the Cyprus issue in New York is handed over to the Greek Cypriot leadership by Matthew Nimetz. After a first reading Vasos Lyssaridis, EDEK president rejects it at the first, Ezekias Papaioanou G. AKEL C says not to hurry, study it and then decide (obviously to inform the Soviet Union) and Glaukos Kliridis suggests we accept it. President Spyros Kyprianou was very hesitant.
The Plan was characterized years later as a compiled federal proposal that covered the main interests of the two communities. The residents of Varosia would immediately return to their homes at the start of the talks and would not leave regardless of the result. Famagusta was returning to us without any compensation. Only by agreeing to stay in conversations.
Finally, Spyros Kyprianou, after pressure from AKEL, who supported him and immediately, clearly apart from the Soviet Union, who did not want to solve the Cyprus issue with a Western plan not to increase the Western influence in the region, rejects the plan. Rumors have it that pressure on Spyros Kyprianos to reject the plan was put on by strong economic factors of the place next to him, for their own reasons.
We are talking about 1978. Where Famagusta needed a simple dusting to be repopulated by its legal residents, that there was not a single Turkish settlement in the occupied lands, that Turkish Cypriots had not made any investment there, that the refugee properties had not been inhabited and exploited, that the two had not been alienated Communities
Forty-six years later, and after rejecting several plans, we are still looking for the ideal solution by looking for "new ideas".
Some have now begun to call it division, two states otherwise, Chinese are playing with us.
Now the race is above all. The long-running struggle...

I mean you cannot make it up.

Learning is not enough, we have to take steps to move forward from where we find ourselves in. We could go to the 1978 agreement with some changes.
1. Add to the agreement opening of ports in the north
2. Accept all who have TRNC passport to remain and reciprocate with all RoC passports.
3. Return all Varoshites back to their homes with help to rebuild their homes
4. Allow maximum number of people to return to their homes if they so wish - compensate those who prefer compensation.

They do not need to be done in one go. They an be in steps. We may begin to return Cyprus towards survival at least.

This sounds like the GC parties are stuck back in 1978 when they GC President to sit in the same room to negotiate on account that it was recognising the TC state. Its more like the same old same old. Just meeting does not do a thing if the person you are meeting is not listening.

“The invitation [extended] to the pseudo-mayor of occupied Famagusta for the anti-occupation event of Famagusta is unacceptable from every point of view,” said an announcement from Edek.

“The so-called ‘mayor’ [Suleyman Ulucay] has usurped the town hall of the occupied city and installed himself inside the building and supports the [re]settlement of Famagusta, which Turkey and the occupying regime are proceeding with, in violation of UN Security Council resolutions,” Edek added.

Edek said it was unacceptable to invite an illegitimate institution of an unrecognised state, which rose to its position through illegal procedures and is not covered by the 1960 constitution.
