This is not helping peace at all, instead it is pushing sides further apart.

What was the purpose of this, and did they achieve their objectives?

...indeed, it is a small message, that Turkey will not be able to use American made weapons in Cyprus as they did in '74 (and '63); they may meet with the Americans themselves.

Does it help Peace? Indeed, without it Peace would not even be on the table.

Come on RW, they were not allowed to use them back in 1974. What happened after they did? There was a pretence at sanction and even the pretence was dropped after a while.

...news today which disturbs me,

"I am extremely proud to announce that our State, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), has been granted observer-member status to the Organisation of Turkic States. It is the first time the TRNC has been admitted into an international organisation with its constitutional name. This is a momentous event in our history that is a source of pride for us.", says Mr Tatar.

"Turkishness" as Erdogan defines it, grows.

Turkey's infamous fake news apparatus has once again been caught out, this time by Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov, who denied reports that Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus was admitted into the Organization of Turkic States (OTS)

The so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a state only recognised by Turkey following its invasion in 1974, was not admitted to the OTS despite reports in Turkish media, said Norov on November 11 at a briefing on the recently held OTC meeting in Samarkand, Fergana reported.

...i should have known; it was another outright lie.

Never mind any other state, not even Turkey has recognised TRNC. To recognise a country and act of parliament has to be passed. There was no law like that in Turkey.

He is a total arse. TCs voted yes in 2004, they were ready for peace when they elected Akinci, they were also ready when they were at the talks in Crans-Montana and again when they voted for local elections in December.

What the fuck has he or the likes of him done so far. Fuck all. he wants an agreement where everybody's human rights are respected. How the fuck is he going to do that? force all the relatives of 60,000 TCs who were forced off their homes north to return to what exactly?

Assholes like him have created the problem and are still in power to this day benefitting from it.

When will the GCs wake up ffs.

Reign your neck in and tighten those screws re Plonkenstein, you are leaking brain power again.

The GC are always voting yes for peace. When will the TC's wake up and let the GC's return to their homes?

...indeed, the Grecophones are lucky that "Greekness" burned itself down. Turkish Cypriots are still suffering the consequences of "Turkishness", in its hatefulness no different, and thriving at its root in Turkey.

Who votes for Peace? Cypriots do; and they represent never less than half of the voting population, despite the decades of being unnaturally torn apart: Turkish or Greek.

..."leaking brain power", is accepting the narrative "They" would have you believe. And the sooner 'we' realise that as Cypriots, we are not "Greeks" or "Turks" but Citizens of the World, the better.

...the sooner 'we' join against "Them", the sooner we are Free. ENOSIS; giving the word a Cypriot meaning would be nice.

(For us re Max, to return to our homes we must join them, against "Them".)
