...British scum dies.

No need to be so harsh RW. He clearly knew Makarios very well and was trying to prevent troubles later. Knowing what took place since 1963, surely it would have been easier before 1960 to move people around, have fair exchange of properties for those who wanted to move to their own sectors, leave everybody else where they were and either have two federal state or two states. We would have avoided all the strife that went on since end of 1963.

...he was a sorry sort of an Englishman who had no idea what it meant to be British; ask the Scots, the Irish, the Welsh, the Cornish, as well.

If British troops had better represented themselves, that too may have helped. Let's not forget Grivas' gripe was with their lack of discipline originally.

''It begins, Cypriots as Cypriots no longer silen(t)ced, speak for themselves.

...as the weather grows warmer and the COVID restrictions cease, i am expecting more demonstrations of the same nature, Cypriots under the only flag rightfully theirs, and as a People, for the Freedom, despite their dysfunctional government(s), it represents. Indeed there is a need for Cypriot Constituencies, the need for Liberty too, because we are Persons with distinct identities as such, not just Individuals. (At such a level of governance, i ask, why not a Greek Constituency like a Turkish Constituency, Cypriots demonstrating their respect as Majorities toward the Minorities living among them, why not other Constituencies if it is the Cypriot ethnos, and our welcoming nature(s) we wish to thrive?)

While a BBF is not hard for Cypriots to understand, those "Greek" and "Turkish" resist while holding the Agenda.''

Cypriot, and proud: men like these are the biggest threat to Erdogan's Turkey; if Cypriots should recognise their efforts as Cypriots, Turkish people will have something to think about in Turkey too..

https://cyprus-mail.com/2022/07/03/the- ... st-ankara/

Before Korkmazhan, six other Turkish Cypriots, including medical doctor and peace activist Okan Dağlı and President Ali Kişmir of the Journalists Union BASIN-SEN were denied entry into Turkey on grounds that they are a “threat to national security” or committed “acts against the Turkish Republic” coded as G-82 on the official form they were handed.

Observers draw attention to the fact that all seven Turkish Cypriots, who were deported, are intellectuals or opinion leaders who advocate a federal solution in Cyprus and criticise AKP’s policies. It is believed that a large number of Turkish Cypriots are included in this list of individuals banned from entry into Turkey. However, it has not been possible to find out exactly who is on this list. Appeals to the Turkish embassy in the north of Nicosia and the Turkish Cypriot ruling coalition in this regard have proven to be in vain.

...there is little doubt in my mind that Turkish Cypriots will not take such incidences lightly. What with the Protocol agreed to by the illegal regime, things will get worse; frankly i am hopeful, Turkish Cypriots have been silent for too long.

It is too late for anything RW. it is not a matter of being silent, there is a sizeable (UBP) minority who love what Turkey does in Cyprus and will not change their view. It does not take much from Turkey to sway a few more people to that side so they win in an election. Their hatred for GCs are so bad that they see noting wrong in what Turkey is doing. We now have 2 MPs who are gacos and the next election may deliver even more.

Who knows.
