I must be living in the twilight zone at the moment as another one of my friends is about to be assisted by hospice very soon which was not expected at all.
On Monday I went to meet my 85 year old friend, Harry. I drove an hour to get there and waited for Harry to arrive so that we can have a Japanese food for lunch. Harry is normally punctual so when he was late in arriving , that was unusual. I called his house and got the answering machine and after waiting for an hour, I drove to his house, but no one was home. Since the garbage containers were on the side of the road along with other neighbours, I was relaxed to know that he is OK as he would have had to placed the garbage containers himself. Another hour waiting at his house and few more phone messages left on his answering machine, I went to meet another friend previously arranged 30 minutes drive away. At about 6 pm I get a phone call from one of Harry’s friend to inform me that Harry is not well and that he in at the hospital with a brain tumor and that he will die in a month or two. I couldn’t believe it.
I drove to the hospital right away to see Harry. He is a little confused and does not know why he is in the hospital and wants to go home. He claims there is nothing wrong with him, but then he think he is going to die in a month. I stated earlier that after I left San Francisco next Sunday that I may never see some of my friends again, but Harry was not meant to be one of them. Looks like I was very wrong.
