Atrocities were committed by extremists irrespective whether G/Cs or T/Cs. Hatred is by no means restricted to one or other side. If only All Cypriots embraced their true motherland the island of Cyprus. As one who has met numerous T/Cs I can say that I never met a single one who denied his true motherland, my island, his island. There are many on both sides of the divide who consider either Greece or Turkey as their motherland. I do not, my grandfather and beyond were Cypriots and so am I.

OK, I accept your comments as true and have one question for you. In all that you learnt from books and asking questions, was there any mention of any injustice the TC's may have suffered? I would expect with such thorough research something by someone, a book maybe would at least make reference to injustice/injustices TC would have suffered. Perhaps you can make a list of what you heard/learned about these injustices.

No no no. You misunderstood my question. I was not referring to war time injustices or deaths. My question is for injustices after the declaration of independence and the announcement of RoC. I honestly believe such extensive research would've revealed such injustices, if there are none then I would question your source/sources of information.

The injustices with the so called "independence" were all against the Greek Cypriots. The so called "independence" that was forced on Cyprus included foreign armies, foreign sovereign bases of the colonialists, foreign "guarantors", foreign judges of the supreme court... does this sound like "independence" to you? Do you know any other independent country that has such things? And on top of that, the 18% minority was given veto powers, 30% of the civil servants positions (and you know that in Cyprus everybody wants to be a civil servant), 40% of the police etc etc. There were proposals for the reform of this "independence" which the Colonialists forced on us by blackmail. Your community rejected the reforms and responded with violence.

We are aware of your casualties during that period, but you were not the only side to have casualties in this period, and this was not the only period of Cyprus history. If we add everything together then you have caused A LOT more casualties and suffering to us than the other way around. Now you are selectively using the past in order to excuse more crimes against us and then you wonder why you are hated!!

Like Maximus I hardly learned anything from school regarding the Cyprus problem. I learned as much about it as I learned French. Most of what I know I learned from my own research (which includes this forum). I am fully aware of how much and for how long you suffered and I recognize it. But at the same time I know about the suffering of GCs, which was more and for far longer periods. Therefore the past can not be used as an excuse by you.

So if you want a solution lets agree to something which is FAIR now.

If you want to gain on our expense because you are supposedly the "good" people that need to be rewarded on the expense of the "bad" people, then there will be no solution and you will be deservingly hated.

The 1963 attacks was not I guess an injustice to the TC's. Murdering innocent men, women, children was not an injustice. Forcing thousands of people into enclaves was not an injustice. Ransacking their homes forced to abandon by murderous GC's was not an injustice on the TC community.

These injustices you say your side experienced are but a blip in a long line of historical injustices committed by "your side" on the other.

This is not about who is the greater victim though, although some weight can be placed on it. You will probably reject the historical injustices committed to the GC's were greater than those committed against your community for a relatively short period of time. And only because your side was committing injustices, and trying to perpetuate injustices in the first place.

Whatever, the GC's are and have been proposing fair and just solutions to move forward though but "your side" keeps rejecting them and continues instead, with Turkey's backing, to commit injustices against the GC's.

You have to wake up and realize that the injustice your side is committing against the GC and RoC continues as part of that long line of historical injustices. Furthermore, your sides "Solutions" involve more injustices to the GC's.

Of course you had some casualties also. This doesn't make you the innocent side. Do you know how many civilian casualties the Germans and the Japanese had in WWII? Millions. The fact is that you have always been the aggressors, you are the ones who invaded our island, you never accepted democracy, and you have caused to us way more casualties than the relatively small amount you had in comparison. But you always talk about your own suffering out of context, as if it was an isolated event out of the blue, without placing that in the context of our common history in Cyprus.
