The specific convicted child abuser is a man called John Hamilton Buckley.

https://www.theage.com.au/national/vict ... jkk1w.html

A former Geelong Grammar housemaster, who was also renowned among Australia's arts community, has been jailed for seven-and-half-years for sexually abusing six boys in his care more than three decades ago. As the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse continued its focus on the prestigious school in the Victorian County Court building on Friday, John Hamilton Buckley sat in another court room as judge Jane Patrick condemned his "disgraceful" and "predatory" offending.
Buckley sexually abused six boys aged between 10 and 13 between 1980 and 1983, when he was a teacher and housemaster at Geelong Grammar's junior school Glamorgan in Toorak. Among his victims were two brothers, another boy who was indecently assaulted while in the sick bay and another who was told to pretend Buckley was Bo Derek and to "make love" to him. Buckley used pornographic material, dinners outside the campus and a card game similar to strip poker to manipulate the boys before offending. The parents of one of his victims notified the school's principal at the time, the court heard, but nothing came of the complaint. It was not until June 2013 that he was arrested. He later pleaded guilty to five charges of indecent assault on a male, three of indecent assault, three of gross indecency and single counts of sexual penetration with a person aged between 10 and 16 and possessing child pornography, the latter related to the discovery at his holiday home of 96 photographs of the boys. Judge Patrick said victim impact statements were powerful, moving and outlined the "terrible harm that child abuse such as this causes".

Paphitis in order to try and defend his political narrative about the excellence of such schools as Geelong Grammar, repeatedly claimed such sexual abuse had not happened at Geelong School at all, that no one had been jailed for such things, that all there had been were 'allegations' but nothing proven, that such 'allegations' were 'farcical and those who were accused were probably extremely distinguished people who served the school with utter and complete professionalism and diligence." He claimed that only allegations had been made to a commission only, when in fact this convicted child sex offender was arrested, placed on trial, judged in a court of law, found guilty and sentenced to jail time.

Such behaviour by Paphitis is abhorrent to me because when he publicly posts such things, such distortions, such lies, as far as I am concerned he is not just speaking to 'us' he is speaking also to the victims of this depraved sexual predator, to their parents , their family and friends. All simply to try and defend his own personal political narrative. I am created the poll to see if it is abhorrent to others as well. Unlike some I do not just claim such things are abhorrent to 'everyone'.

When cyprusgrump then actively comes on to this thread to simply to tell me to fuck off for creating it for no other reason that he is politically aligned with Paphitis, rather than just say nothing, as far as I am concerned that then makes him also complicit in such abhorrent behaviour.

Lordo I implore you stop this. Do not turn this in to a GC TC thing. It is not. Do you just want to be a TC equivalent of B25 ? I hope you are better than that.

I even had hope that you were better than this B25. Are you really going to let your hatred for Turks and TC, which has understandable roots and real degrees of righteousness, make you side with an apologist for a man like John Hamilton Buckley and the things he did ? Let you become such an apologist ?

In this case it is then clear that this person could not be "an extremely distinguished person who served the school with utter and complete professionalism and diligence." One very bad thing is enough to erase everything else you might have done. That said such people could be in any kind of school, so I don't think this case proves something about private schools or even about that specific school.

Somebody could be "convicted in a court of law of child sex abuse" and could also be "an extremely distinguished person who served the school with utter and complete professionalism and diligence." It depends. When they say "child" what do they mean in this case? A small child, or a teenager just below the age of consent in a country where this age is set too high? If the second, then was it an actual rape, or merely a "statutory rape", and was the teenager a student of this teacher, or somebody unrelated to the school of the teacher?

I remember reading in the news some months ago about some 30 something teacher in the US who had sex with a 16 year old student of hers. I doubt this particular one was "extremely distinguished" and clearly not professional, since she had sex with her own student, but she was quite good looking and if I was 16 I would happily fuck her as well and I am sure I would really enjoy it without having any "psychological trauma". For me there is no crime whatsoever in such cases, let alone a "major" one, where that poor woman would have to be in jail for I don't know how many years for the "crime" of giving pleasure and orgasms to somebody who is clearly old enough for sex and who was doing this voluntarily for his own enjoyment.

yet another brainless swine. how can the two exist together. if a person is convicted of child abuse, no matter what esle they did is shit. only a gc could think like you. likr the swine who killed innocent civilians in murataga and was employed to distinguish himself as a religous teacher.

Leaving your bullshit aside, "convicted of child abuse" unfortunately doesn't mean anything if a 16 year old counts as a "child", and if him voluntarily having sex with an older woman (and then bragging about it to his friends) counts as "abuse". Time for our societies to realize that people of that age aren't babies and they have a sex drive.

It's not just a private school. It's a private boarding school. Big difference. And yes such things do happen quite often in such schools.

I am not saying here that this one convicted paedophile at Australia's top private school is proof of anything about private schools generically. I am not even saying that the four other convicted paedophiles that operated at this same school in addition to this one is proof of anything about private schools generically.

What I am saying is that to seek to deny that this man, these men, ever committed such acts at all, to make out there had only ever been 'allegations' when in fact there had been convictions for all of them, to make out the allegations were false and made by people with 'grudges' against the school because they had been caught with drugs, or by Marxists seek to unfairly denigrate the school, simply to try and support your own political narrative is abhorrent. Do you agree with this or not Sotos ? Will you vote or not ?

Of course this case is abhorrent, no one could say otherwise. At least, thankfully he was taken to court and punished, and the same abhorrence should be shown to anyone who preys on children.
Digressing slightly at least he was punished its a shame the same cannot be said for the Catholic priests who committed offences and whose deeds were covered up by the Catholic Church... But that's a different topic... Sorry for going off thread

I voted. But five cases?? Over what time frame, were they related somehow? I am guessing that this school being a boarding school is what increases the chances of such things happening.
