when peter gabriel wrote this song he wanted to give the proceeds to a charity of the biko family choosing. however biko family was devestated by the loss of their son financially so when gabriel asked them which charity to give the proceeds to, they explained to him that they need the money themselves so he paid them the money instead. What a human.
