pibol talk about the tough gun laws california has passed. what exactly are they.

Recent Legislation

• Raised the age for buying rifles and shotguns from 18 to 21. - so there nothing to stop a younger person to pick up their father weapon. no stict control as to where it is kep and who has the key right. now that is taugh, tough as it gets, nobody can go past that one.

• Imposed lifetime bans on gun ownership for those convicted of domestic violence or involuntarily hospitalized for mental illness more than once in a one-year period. - what any one year period? what kind of a restriction is that. soif you convicted 366 days after you are ok to buy a gun.

• Strengthened a law prohibiting multiburst trigger devices, including bump stocks. but they anounced they would ban them months in advance so anybody wanting one would go and buy plenty before the ban right? no this is as tough as it gets

• Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed two other measures. One would have prohibited the purchase of more than one long gun a month. The other would have allowed teachers and employers to petition the courts to have guns confiscated from people who are a danger to themselves and others. so the old boy vetoed a law that would stop a person buying more than one long gun a month.

wow that is one hell of a taugh gun control laws.

Well put it this way.

You can't say you have a democracy when you inhibit and control free speech, and dare I say it, control people's ability to have guns. It's either full democracy or its not.

let's be very clear about a few facts. Australia had the Port Arthur Massacre in Tasmania a couple of decades ago and John Howard tightened gun control. Rather than gun crime going down, it has actually INCREASED! Basically because you have taken guns from law abiding citizens and left them in the hands of criminals.

We have even had a few of mass shootings since. I would imagine everyone can still remember the Lynt Cafe Siege in central Sydney at the hands of a madman not that long ago. You can still get any gun you want if you know the right people. Even full automatics. You can get anything. Gun Smuggling is a very big underworld industry in Australia.

Americans have the right to bear arms, and that isn't going to change.

I suggest people look at their own backyards because the Americans have decided to be different to the EU, Europe, Canada and Australia. People actually DO have free speech there, they actually DO have a free and pluralistic media, they literally DO have total democracy and the right to bear arms.

They have built a society that is free from tyranny and they want to keep it and they even say they will organize militias as a symbol of the FREE STATE to defend their rights. The EU on the other hand is slowly marching towards totalitarianism. Not just the EU, but Canada and Australia are as well. Our democracy is fragile and absolute power corrupts. The EU, Canada and Aust5alia have a long way to reach Turkey, Russia or China but the gap between us isn't as wide as it was 2 decades ago.

We destroyed the Taliban and still provide Afghanistan with much needed security, aid and assistance in keeping them at bay.

You are confusing the Taliban with the Mujahideen. The West was aiding The Mujahideen against the Russians in the 1980s. The are NOT the same.

And in fact, the Mujahideen fought the Taliban in the Northern parts of Afghanistan,

Lordo wrote:now here is a comparison with knives.
in total 12563 people killed in 2016 in america through firearms and 1600 odd with knives.
also notice that so few shotguns are used too.

you can ban all the guns and rifles except shotguns. like most civilised nations.

but to be able to do that you have to be civilised first.
perhaps in another tousand years the yanks may join us in the civilised world.

No, I think the USA is civilized enough.

I don't want them to be like Europe or Australia.

Americans are a wonderful people and I don't want anything to change. Bill of Rights rules.

Americans don't have anything to be jealous about. They are so fundamentally opposed to autocratic tyrannical and totalitarian power structures.

...indeed, it is a society based on trust and respect.

...and despite India's size as the greatest democracy, nothing, and no one can compete with America's diversity.

...the gun violence certainly has the attention of Americans; finding solutions to it is a matter of time.
