But the ROC doesn't have an airforce. I'm sure it's me but - I don't get it. :?

Turkey is paranoid that everyone in the neighbourhood and afar wants to attack and divide Turkey up.

What was my point again? :D

It is somewhat peculiar but from Turkeys point of view, she dont have any anti air defenses and she is surrounded by a "ring of fire".

The s400 wont stop a sub sinking anything floating around where it shouldn't be either.

I think the possibility of Turkey being divided up has just gone up with her antics.

There are bigger players that don't agree that, "this is turkeys back yard".

Turkey is in their back yard, literally, and she is causing trouble.

This was the original plan for Turkey.

Instead, of the treaty of sevres,it was the treat of Luesanne that was signed, creating present day Turkey.

But Turkey is violating that treaty today.

The US is basically blaming Turkey and by extension the TC for "some of the most deep seated problems in the region".

https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/origin ... yprus.html

Kadet oversay thinks that the arms embargo shouldn't be lifted because it would mean that the GCs would think that the US is backing them. Duh!

Turkey is a NATO member and the USA has been supporting them for decades. Just a few months ago the USA was threatening us with vetoing the renewal of UNFICYP, in an effort to blackmail us to accept a Turkish solution to the Cyprus problem. And lets not forget that the British do not want a proper solution in Cyprus due to their bases, and even as we speak they support Turkey so they can maintain a muddy situation that serves their interests. Russia has historically being much friendlier to Cyprus, and they have supported us numerous times in the UN Security council.

What is happening today and in the near future depends mostly on the choices of the Turks. Erdogan got pissed that the Americans tried to get rid of him with the coup, so he sided with the Russians. The Russians were happy to see a split in NATO so they play along even though they have major differences with the Turks in Syria and elsewhere.

The question is: How stupid are the Turks? If they are not overly stupid they would get rid of Erdogan asap, and change the foreign policy of Turkey. The Americans would happily drop Cyprus to gain Turkey back (and if we aren't stupid, we would not irreversibly damage our relationship with Russia by then).

But if the Turks are that stupid and they keep Erdogan, well that would be great news for us, as it could actually change the balance of power in the region. Turkey could eventually be kicked out of NATO and become the next Iran or Iraq. The Americans don't want that to happen but since they failed to remove Erdogan with a coup they will not have a choice eventually.

So, lets wish that the Turks will not get rid of Erdogan before it is too later for them. But we can also do more than just wishing. We could do things that would fuel nationalism in Turkey and raise the popularity of Erdogan. Maybe even give him some small victories if his popularity seems to be going dangerously low. We need him to stay in power long enough to properly fuck Turkey up!

Now, he’s managed to piss off the French so much that the chairman of foreign affairs and the armed forces committee is visiting Cyprus for 3 days?
