Night is in the order of 3000 ish with about 2000 hours of actual Instrument Met Conditions hours and about 9500 command hours.

A lot of hours.

Oh and I operate under a CASA approval instrument under Civil Aviation Regulation 217.

We don’t actually have Command Instrument Ratings anymore under our Part 161 licence as I work under a CASA instrument where my employer is signed off by the regulator to sign off our competencies every 6 months under an Operator Proficiency Check in an approved simulator. Only just did one a couple of weeks ago.

So our licence gets signed off every 6 months.

What this means I am able to hire and fly a Cessna but I am not allowed to fly on instruments because I don’t have a current Command Instrument Rating or Instrument Proficiency but operate under the Instrument Flight Rules for Aircraft above 6 Tonne under a CASA Instrument Reg 217 or in house check and training infrastructure approved by the regulator.

Bloody Air Law. :D yeh I know it doesn’t make much sense.

As for BREXIT, you guys will be arguing and chasing your tales for a while.

I am opting out because I don’t feel like wasting my time but rest assured I will rejoin you all post Brexit.

Nah you are in the right thread.

I just got word from the Australian Republican Movement. They have been reading your posts and have given up on their cause. They think it’s pretty pointless if Parliament just just swoop right in and derail democracy. :(

They thank you for your wisdom.

Well you should get back to them because you have passed on incorrect information. What you need to tell them is that if they get a referendum and they win it, what they should understand is that then does not mean they and they alone get to decide HOW Australia will implement that decision to move to a republic, with no need for any regard to what the people's desire is in how that is done, either directly or thorough their elected representatives. Let them know that democracy will still need to apply not just to the decision on IF Aus should do this but also on HOW it should do it.

While you are at it you could also share with them my wisdom on which of the various 'hows' they could follow as they move to Republic is probably best and which is probably worst, for when that is to discussed and agreed democratically of course.

The best way of how they should move to a Republic, my wisdom tells me, would be to agree a process with the Crown, whereby they legally change their status to Republic on a given date but where there is also an agreed mutual transition period and process for that change to minimise the disruption such a change requires for both them and the crown at the 'details' level. This will minimise disruption resulting from the change.

The worst way to make such a change, my wisdom tells me, would be to just declare the change first on a given date and then run around after the fact dealing with all the consequences that change causes at a detail level, all at the same time and with no transition period agreed for anything. This will maximise disruption resulting from the change.
