Cyprus, Lebanon sign MoU on oil, gas cooperation

Is it good news?
How?
Does it mean you are nearer to extracting resources?
Dream on.

How long has it been since they anounced how much was in the first Levant field between Cyprus and Israel?

Has one melecule been extracted yet?

I remember reading a post by DT with his mouth salivating how beautiful the oil rig looked.

Just in case he has forgotten, this is what it looks like.

Turkey's meddling has not provided the results it wants; even in Lebanon.

Clearly Turksy has an issue with the sea resouces with Syria, Cyprus and Greece. I was not aware there is an issue with Lebanon too.

Either way they all have to be resolved before resouces can be extracted and just sitting back and pretending this is mine because that is how I interpret the rules clearly is not working for anybody. Considering Greec is asking for 97% and Cyprus is asking for80% of the north med region, all they are going to get is a good old fashioned gavli from Turkey. They all have to get together and talk in a civilised manner. I know Greeks and GCs are finding it hard to do that as soon as they see the word Turkey never mind anybody from there, but you know what? Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and have a go. At least you tired.

...only Turkey's chair is empty at the East Med Gas Forum.

Hegemony is not Turkey's supremacy over the sea(s), but this alliance based on the rational exploitation of resources, safely, and to the benefit of all involved (as one).

Indeed, it is Turkey that has driven this unlikely result, where Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Cyprus, Greece sit as equals along with many other members and participants; something to think about.

It is not the resources that Turkey (read: "Turkishness") wants, but power; power over all her neighbours, more power beyond that too.

You really think that Turkey should sit at the table and discuss the issue with the greeks who claim 97% of the Aegean Sea and Greek Cypriots who claim about 80% of the North East Med.

I wonder theough whilst they were having these meetings did they ever invite Turkey to attend?

There is an old Cypriot saying.

Davetsiz yere kopekler gider.

...Yes, i really think Turkey should sit at the EMGF, with all her neighbours.

...and speaking of the Aegean, let's not forget, Greece may have the largest coastline, but Turkey has the largest landmass; seems pretty fair to me.

...it's not me who suggests their chair is waiting, it is what the other members say.

What is fair RW Greece claiming 97% of the sea?

I think you may have lost some marbles, look for them will you.

...it is not Greece that is making these claims; it is Turkey that is making "claims" ignoring convention, and the very Treaty from which this country gained its existence.

...more on the subject, extracting resources,

Cyprus to assume gas forum presidency

https://cyprus-mail.com/2021/11/27/cypr ... residency/

''...in just four short years, this Forum has shown itself to be a powerful tool toward the rational exploitation of nature's resources; their safe, economic, exploration, transport, and distribution.

Needless to say there are many derivative benefits as well based on this respect and trust, which promote a regional hegemony, generally where the infrastructure between them and capacity is improved, and against Turkey's behaviour in particular; (the only major player unwilling to sit at the same table), ignoring UNCLOS, having tossed out the Treaty of Lausanne, and making maximalist demands, insisting in the Eastern Med. and the Aegean militarily, that these continental shelves as a whole "belong" to her exclusively.

Cyprus does well, joining in this enterprise, (along with the other members), having brought so many together, to share in what is a collective effort to make the right choices for themselves transparently.''; my comment.

...the next meeting is in June 2022.
