I would sing with great joy, if some were to take out the Andros Kyprianou I have this F guy with a vengeance.

What is the worse he can do, B25?

...about 5x more Turkish Cypriots voted this time around.

...interestingly, Akel and Jasmine swept the voting 95%; in that regard Disy was swept in the dust.

...Disy will reform itself, perhaps to demonstrate their more "Cypriot" qualities. The Turkish Cypriot electorate may vote 5x more, again.

Politics have changed, as a result, in any case. One hopes politicians will do more to demonstrate their position on Principal, as Cypriots, rather than their "Greekness" or "Turkishness" in future elections. Labour, and Business, will be represented by Cyprus' MEPs. The environment is the EU's number one issue. It's notable that there are even some, Turkish Cypriots who voted ELAM, I imagine them to be Grey Wolves; so much alike.

...two of the six may be Turkish Cypriots, is the final count in yet?

Most of Niyazi's votes came from GC's.

There was an opinion article published in the CY fail leading up to the elections. The author explained her reasons why she wouldn't be voting for DISY and why she would be voting for another party.

"I could vote for an independent candidate. Sener Levent might have got my vote simply by virtue of being a Turkish Cypriot, but he does not support BBF so he’s not an option."

The writer of the article even goes on to say that AKEL is a disaster party that supports a failed system.

So this person voted for the other TC candidate on AKEL's ticket, only because he is a TC and supports a BBF.

What does this mean for Cyprus?

Simply that Cyprus has people that are willing to vote for disaster.

Honestly, when I was reading this, I was thinking that these reasons for selecting candidates is crazy.

Where did you read this? I don't think it is true. Why would he travel on Turkish passport when he has RoC passport and he lives and works in the free areas? He is elected already, so we have plenty of time to judge him. Lets hope he will not use his position against Cyprus.

Well that is just it, you are relying on hope.

This is not how people should be voting to elect MEP's.

Some people acknowledge that he is part of a disaster party and still got the vote.

BBF is dead. AKEL is the only party left to support the "any BBF" crap, and without the votes of TCs AKEL would be down in this elections compared to both last parliamentary elections and last EU elections. BBF would be acceptable only with the right content, but the Turkish side will not accept that, so the whole BBF is as dead as the Annan plan.

I didn't vote for AKEL, I voted for EDEK. But the elections are over now so nothing can be changed. We can only hope that all 6 of our MEPs will work for the interests of Cyprus.

I agree Sotos, however we still have our fair share of idiots that will accept a BBF (with any content just because it is a BBF) and feel disappointing that the Annan plan did not pass.

However, people are still willing to vote for a disaster party. look how narrow the results were between DISY and AKEL.

There is one good thing going for Niyazi that is referenced in that article.

The author says.

That Niyazi thinks - what is good for a GC is good for a TC. I dont know how true that is.

There is nothing else to do but wait and see.

None the less, he is part of a disaster party.

he is like a breath of fresh air, he speak realities, facts, not that you can let real facts get in your way.

1. he has openly declared that he will not just represents tcs he will represents all cypriots except the sheepriots. he refuses to represent sheepriots.
2. christofias agreed with talat that the resources would not be extracted before the bbf agreement and the percentages are agreed too.
3. he has no terggish passport, how can he work in the south and pay taxes with terggish passport.
4. i bet he speaks better greek than you ottoman remenants.
5. he has written countless books on the cyprus problem
4. as to what it mean which is what kakpoo asked, fuck all. the whole thing depends on anastasiades so there is nothing anybody can do about anything. anastasiades claims he wants to start talking but he wants to look at looser federation. to me he is asking for confederation.
5. there is no doubt he will do some very intersting speeches in eu parliament and he will make them in terggish cypriot.
6 there was an assholing sheepriot here who claimed akel fooled the tcs to get their votes. what akel has done is writing history of cyprus. this is a first where tcs voted for a gc party and gcs voted for a tc. that is the way forward. perhaps in 100 years we can after all have a unitary state. of course with tcs and akel in cooperation mode it does mean we will always have akel in government, especially when all tcs begin to vote in earnest.

fancy that.
