Turkish Cypriots were Paphians (insert other cities that they predominately resided in too) who changed faith to save their properties.
Other 'Turkish Cypriots' are ethnically Turks.
I think the only reason some people got offended is because he over generalized and referred to all the current inhabitants of Paphos as 'spawn of the Turks'.
i would say most of the turks left cyprus in 1923 when terrgy decided to hand over cyprus to the brits. those who remained were the original population who were there long before the griiiks invades cyprus. what they did to survive is their business and no swine today has any right to question why or what for they chose to do what they did.
we are who we are and we have as much right in cyprus as you swine do. we have no more ottoman dna than you do in our body.

It seems that as from 5 November 1914 Turkish Cypriots had the choice to remain in Cyprus as British subjects or return to Turkey as Turkish subjects within 2 years.
This article goes on to say that 9000 opted to return to Turkey but in fact only 2500-3000 actually did.
Hardly "most" turks leaving Cyprus Lordo.
