Now you are going to say people that use that word don't speak mainland Greek. Problkem is I do.
Lots of people are bewildered when I go to Cyprus and talk the way I do and they actually call me a Kalamara! Plus, the amount of time I spend in Greece lately compounds the situation because I adopt more and more of their linguistic traits.
