I am not aware about any tariffs against EU, Canada, and Mexico. This doesn't sound like Trump at all.
I forgot to answer this point.
This article explains the major details. Doesn’t sound like Trump you said?

I know the details.
Trump has whacked tariffs on meat imports from the EU, Canada, and Mexico.
I don't see a problem with that. The whole purpose of this is to ensure that imported meat from the EU, Canada and Mexico isn't cheaper and more competitive than US Meat on the US Market, so that US farmers can sell their product and thrive.
That is the whole purpose of tariffs.
Reh Paphiti, after I served it to you ready on the plate of what kind of tariffs Trump imposed on the EU Canada and Mexico, you come back telling me he imposed tariffs on meat??? Na mate, it's the EU in retaliation who imposed tariffs on American beef, not the other way round... Trump imposed 25% on steel and 10% in aluminum products
Trump knows very well that the EU, Canada and Mexico could do the same and they have the right to do so. It isn't personal, or a "war" or anything like that. It is just a protectionist fiscal policy. This is what Trump promised before being elected and now he is implementing.
Having said that, it doesn't stop the EU, Canada, or Mexico from cutting a deal. Australia, somehow is immune because of the AUS/USA FTA.
You seem to forget.
The Americans are not worried about any EU retaliation. It isn't about selling meat to the EU. They will however still be selling meat there.
It is about protecting the US Market for US Producers. That is what the Americans are doing.
And of course, with this way of thinking, they fully expect the EU, Canada, Australia to respond in similar ways and probably think you are all stupid if you don't.
To them, it's about putting America FIRST!
In addition, the EU, Canada, and Australia are not their big targets. they are more worried about the competitiveness of China and India. The EU, Canada, and Australia do not enjoy any competitive advantage over US products.
