This should prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Turkey has no rights on the Greek Island of Cyprus. The Turkish Cypriots aren't even Turkish. They must remove all their troops and settlers who are criminals and live our island never to return. If England did not get involved in Cypriot affairs in 1878 Cyprus would have been a Greek Island just as Crete is part of Greece. Turks have no rights on this island.

We the TCs together with Turkey will fight everyone who thinks like you and ensure this island is never Greek.

It has nothing to do with genes and everything to do with the fact it's too late for Turkey to expand over sovereign territory belonging to another country .... Cyprus ... a sovereign country which is not one iota Turkish even as we speak, but merely illegally and temporarily occupied ....

Who can answer me this question. Why is it ok for Crete, Samos, Rhodes, to have enosis but not Cyprus? Didn't the Cypriots of both Greek and Turks paid their dues? I just came from Cyprus this summer and Turkish Cypriots who escaped from the Turkish Occupation want union with Greece but are afraid of the Turkish troops!

I don't think (m)any GCs want Enosis with Greece as we are already happily independent sister states within the EU.

Any TCs who said such a thing to you, probably want to reduce the number of veto votes so that it is easier for Turkey to get into the EU.

Because Cyprus has been a UN-recognized sovereign state since 1960!

Didn’t you learn that at primary school?

Why anyone would want union with Greece is what you should be asking yourself...

Not a geneticist but I did come across a medical study that shows that GCs and TCs share genetically inherited diseaes which are common to southern Europe, in places like Sicily and south Italy. Whether this is the result of intermingling after 1571 or because of a common heritage from before, is the question. The commonality with sicily would seem to be pointing to the latter.

Wasn't there another study that showed that the closest group to Cypriots, genetically, are the Lebanese? Which would tend to point to Phoenicians, if you are a classicist, or to Saracens if you prefer the history of the Middle Ages.

Cyprus is just as Greek as any other Greek island thats for sure. The Turkish Cypriots should have left during the population exchanges. Being replaced with Greeks from Asia minor/Pontus, but the Anglos preferred to keep them so that they could bring the Turks back.

Why not put your question to the good people of these fine eastern Mediterranean islands? Perhaps not all of them (esp. their ethnic Turks) would think it is OK to be ruled by often incompetent, largely self-interested politicians in Athens. Perhaps some of these islanders might even consider a more direct form of rule if it meant they had their own seat at the EU and came under direct EU protection? Why is it OK for Cyprus to have independence but not Crete, Samos and Rhodes?
