So DT, please explain the Banking Collapse, and the sudden increase in the Cypriot National Debt to 110% as a result of the Banking Collapse?

No banking collapse Paphitis… it’s called “investing” 7 billion in a foreign country while it's in a freefall.

Now they know it doesn't work...

That was only part of the equation Get Real. We already discussed it, and there were many contributing factors.

Such as the Russian Billionaires offloading their deposits into tiny Cypriot Banks. So they had to send the money somewhere so they offloaded with loans in a non-creditworthy Greek and Cypriot market and then kaboom.

Then the Banks were feeling the squeeze when those loans became non-performing and borrowers were defaulting.

The most culpable part is the Cyprus Government - it started with Tassos Pappadopoulos, then Katastrofias, and ended with Anastasiades.

The most responsible being the first 2 - who would have been in jail in any other country. They would never see sunlight till the end of their days.

This is the problem over there Get Real. There is no accountability for your estblishment. They created the mess.

Katastrofias should also be in jail for the Mari Affair too.

You’re flip flopping again paphiti. You stated off by wrongly saying the banking crisis was due to the national debt of Cyprus and its EU membership. You were proven wrong, (again) and now it’s katastrofkias.

Sorry, but I said no such thing.

The State was forced to take over a substantial proportion of the Banks liabilities.

And what was worse, was the fact that the State was left up shit creek without a paddle because the debts were in Euros and they had no means to Quantitively Ease. This is your EU legacy and entrapment now.

You on the other hand have stated that Cypriots have benefitted from EU membership. Well, I am waiting DT for you to tell us how Cypriots have benefited financially from the EU.

And no, I am not blaming Katastrofias alone. This was caused by a whole lot of factors and Katastrofias was only a small factor. You need to go before Katastrofias and point the finger to Tassos Papadopoulos first. He was the very first that encouraged Russian money into the country way before Katastrofias was on the scene. Katastrofias continued and hence is also culpable.

My point was that these people would be in the slammer here in Australia or anywhere else.

I am also willing to blame the Banks somewhat, however, they could not possibly be blamed for the utter stupidity of our politicians in bringing the Russkies into Cyprus with amounts of money and liabilities way beyond our Banks stress levels and market capabilities.

Face it DT. Greece and Cyprus got rolled in a display of incompetence that will remain unprecedented bar in Zimbabwe.

 wouldn’t discuss the issues of Cyprus and Greece if I were Australian. Australia is neither an EU member nor a NATO member. The economic and military influence Greece and Cyprus have on the world make Australia a geopolitical midget.

I’ll have you know that Australia introduced the world to sheep shagging and other livestock pastimes.

Damn right Australia is no EU member! You can keep that shit!

Why the hell would Australia ever want to be a member of the EU?

As for NATO, Australia attends all NATO summits.

Oh and ah yeh. Greece and Cyprus have a lot of global influence. Unfortunately, its just all the wrong influences within the IMF!

And the IMF introduced it to Cyprus!

Why don’t you ask France who has more International Influence - Australia or the dynamic IMF duos of Greece and Cyprus.

Joining the EU was the worst thing Cyprus ever did. We have become slaves to the EU and full of gypsies, roma and mavroues.
Our culture has been eroded and in 20 years from now we won’t know the place. Our race would have been bastardised with Russian, Bulgarian, Romanion and F Asian blood.

B25, I am very worried for you guys and for my kids too. That’s because when they are adults, the will not get to know Cyprus the way I got to know Cyprus.

In my opinion, better off being poorer than to lose your identity. You will not be able to buyback Cyprus no matter how much money or wealthy you are. It will be too late.
