It seems you can no longer order a tablet or laptop from amazon (UK, DE, FR, etc.) with a CY postal address anymore.
Anyone know why?

If that's the new norm then I guess the days of buying electronics gadgets over the Internet are over.

Pretty much...
The annoying thing is that is you order anything on Amazon with a battery which is not blacklisted (I ordered a pair of Bluetooth earphones a few weeks ago), they just hold the order marked 'We don't have a delivery date yet' for a month before cancelling it...
Essentially, if it has a battery Amazon won't ship it (mobile phones are the exception in my experience).
Which is extremely annoying because I poured a glass of red wine into my laptop (which I bought from Amazon a year ago) last week and now can't buy a replacement from them.
There are of course other suppliers (gearbest, etc.) who will ship here...

Should be a massive loss for Amazon… maybe they’ll come to their senses when they realize just how much.

I bought a robot vacuum (which is sensational!) recently... couldn't get it from any of the Amazon sites but Gearbest shipped it with no issues...

I think half the electronic gadgets consignment shipped to Cyprus is probably headed to you and Sotos!

Amazon UK messaged me recently and said, "you are obviously a reseller of electronic products, let us know your VAT number and you can buy VAT free"

Batteries!
They basically won't ship anything with a battery - even a teeny-tiny battery in a smart watch.
Try ebay? Sellers on there aren't so strict although the last camera I bought was turned back by DHL. I got them to re-ship without the battery and then bought two batteries from another ebay seller...
