Is that right?

Incredible!

I have proven time and time again how and why you are wrong...

They would at the very least make an effort to ensure they are publishing accurate data.

Show me one media release they cut and paste.

Which I have just completely proven to be wrong - not with opinion but with facts in the public domain.

However much you wriggle, bluff and bluster you are demonstrably wrong on your claims!

Just doesn't happen.

Whilst all MSM like the BBC are on many occasions found to be lacking and inaccurate, I do believe the BBC would have contacted the dive shop or attempted to get in contact with the diver to obtain some "quotes" and to verify the data.

You have your nickers in a not pumpkin. The CM article was definitely bogus and inaccurate. That is all I am saying.

You can be as recalcitrant as you like, but the reality is the article was technically wrong and if the article gets basics like that wrong then the publication just can't be trusted at all.

So once again, you are completely wrong!

You haven't bothered to read the links I just posted to prove that you are completely wrong!

Every sentence you have typed above is demonstrably completely wrong!

What an utter, complete plonker you are!

BTW, the BBC article was not a copy of a media release. they even quoted people in that article whic means they interviewed someone, and the blog site aggregated the same story.

Gosh you are a shifty little prick!

No you haven't! You have just made a total dick of yourself.

You have proven nothing.

You have claimed that the BBC publishes unverified media releases and you gave an example which is nothing of the sort.

The MSM DO NOT publish media releases!

Hahahahaha! You have really jumped the shark now!

Of course it is a media release!

You think BBC investigative journalists came up with that shit all on their own? The Gambling Commission study is mentioned multiple times, how do you think they got it...?

Here, click this link and see how it works... see how many other news sites happen to miraculously have the same headline and detail as the BBC site...

And remember, you told us that the BBC would not print shite without verifying it - and yet they have done just that!

Be warned, this is going to rock your world!

You do not know whether they got it from a media release. You are making huge assumptions as per usual.

Yes journalists do come up with their own stories and they do cite studies like The Gambling Commission study.

Secondly, they friggin interviewed the damn commissioner on gambling. So if it is true and they got a mnedia release, they picked up the phone and followed up, got some quotes from the commissioner and embellished the story because media releases do not come in that format.

So your premise that the BBC just cut and past a media release without any due diligence like you accused Cyprus Mail did with the Dive article, is completely INCORRECT!

My wife was a journalist for 11 years and a press sec for 8. She has written thousands of releases, and I have see hundreds of them and they are pretty basic.

Hahahaha!

Even if your comments had any basis in fact (which they don't) how do you justify your beloved BBC publishing an article that is demonstrably incorrect... you said they would always verify their facts and could therefore never do such a thing!

The BBC are not my beloved. I am willing and have criticized the BBC for being inaccurate in its reporting before, over subject matter that I am knowledgeable in. I have done the same with CNN, many Australian media outlets as well and other outlets from around the world.

Fact is, the media continuously get it wrong and do not apply the correct "attention to detail"

For instance, in aviation, I know they do it about 80% of the time.

But, picking up the phone to verify some minor technical data, is very low hanging fruit for me. If media get things like that wrong, then what else will be wrong?

We're agreed then, the media makes mistakes!
