Moving with a dog

Postby Reginca » Mon Aug 27, 2018 11:29 am

Hello everyone!
I would like to move to cyprus with my dog. From Hungary.
My dog is a pitbull type. In his passport mix-dog is his breed.
My dog is socialized, she loves dogs and people.
Would this move be possible?
Thanks, your answer! :)

It appears they’re illegal in Cyprus and thank God for that…

NB: Don’t assume that just because it’s a “half pit” or whatever, it’s gonna be OK… you’ll lose the dog.

I have flown in family cats from Russia and New Zealand and a Dog from Estonia. Provided all the jabs are done and documented and proper notice is given to the authorities it is normally not hard: Try here for information.

http://www.moa.gov.cy/moa/vs/vs.nsf/vs07_en/vs07_en?OpenDocument.

That is the official site and best bet is to talk to vetinary services.

However as GR states some breeds are banned. These are : Pit Bull Terrier or American Pit Bull, Japanese Tosa or Tosa Inu, Dogo Argentino or Argentinian Mastiff, Fila Brasileiro or Brazilian Mastiff therefore if your dog is in fact a Pit Bull this may not be a normal import and you may well have problems and may loose the dog . There is no gurantee that describing it as mixed beed in the pasport will help
