One of the few times that GR backs an answer with undisputed facts ;)

Another thing, which I saw mentioned on twitter, is that from our 3 teams yesterday there was just 1 Cypriot player :( Is this true? Aren't they required to use at least 2 Cypriot players? Or is that for the local games only?

Yeah, only in local games.

Our players can still play football only it won’t be in the top 6 teams of the first division for the vast majority. If they’re not good enough to join the best, then that’s just too bad for them...

This trend however should improve in the future because of all the soccer academies that have surfaced all over Cyprus.

Now almost every family with a little 6 year old has signed him up at a football academy just in case he’s a football prodigy and misses out on a spectacular career!

Cypriot parents like to think that their son is quite possibly a football legend and their daughter a super model waiting to be discovered… :lol:

What about the Cypriot players that play abroad?

Pieros Sotiriou: FC Copenhagen (Denmark)
Will play against Atalanta BC (Italy) in Europa League play-offs.

Constantinos Laifis: Standard Liege (Belgium)
Already in Europa League group stage.

Apollyon 7,000, AEK 4,000.

Now by my count Apoel holds around 76% of those points. Say thankyou for being the only decent team on this island that pulled the rest out the shit and you now enjoy the fruits of Apoel’s labor.

The 23000 is a weighting calculated differently. It’s not coefficient points acquired for the national league.

Have a look at the link you posted again... it says “Coeff P” in the top right side of that table where you currently have 3.5.

The 3.5 were accumulated as a result of…

vs Suduva 1-3, 1-0
vs Flora 5-0, 0-2
vs Sheva 2-2, 3-1

Total: Wins=3, Draws=1, Loses=2

(3 wins x 1 point) + (1 draw x 0.5 points) = 3.5

Regarding the 23,000...


This is a personal coefficient. This weighting is advantageous to those who first enter the CL (champions) followed by EL, but those who only enter the EL get a smaller weighting each year...

So the fact that you were the CY champions more times in the last 5 years than any of the other clubs enabled you to first try your luck in the CL and thus get the higher weighting.

Just by entering the CL you get higher "reputation points" than those who went straight to EL.


To sum this up... these are "reputation points" or a "weighting" as I call it.
