Cypriotism (Cypriot Nationalism)

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Cypriotism (Cypriot Nationalism)

Postby JustCypriot » Tue Jul 03, 2018 7:40 pm

Lets talk about Cypriotism (Cypriot Nationalism). "Cyprus for Cypriots!" and these kind of patriotic stuff.

What do you think about it? Can it be the only realistic solution for Cyprus problem?

I remember the Occupy Movement which made clear the feelings for Cyprus, by Cypriots. Not the old, but the young, the hundreds of Flags, the Flag of Cyprus which flew in the buffer zone thanks to them, said it all to me; there is hope. Beside the "Greeks" and "Turks" no different, there is the other half, Cypriots.

With a small change of intention, Cyprus will be Free; Erdogan will be a hero. As much as for Turkey, as for Cyprus, he may unify the People of Cyprus as Cypriots, to unify his own People as Turks, and not as "Turks". Cyprus divided will lead to a Turkey torn to pieces. Cyprus united leaves Hope to those in Turkey who understand that beyond the Nation, is the State. He will propel Turkey to becoming an International power, he has this power now, respecting Principals that are Universal to us all, or backwards, Turkey, "Turkishness", turned against the world in an isolation where there is no Peace, a Turkey which can only end up feeding on itself. Frankly, i am hopeful because he has a legacy to fulfill. And while he is a dangerous opportunist in a world filled with them, he is not a stupid man, he has the power and the will to be an historic figure, well remembered, respected, dare i say it loved. Cyprus is the key to such an outcome, for him.

...who will be betrayed? The "Turks of Cyprus". No more than, as he says, parasites and/or servant slaves, they will find themselves quite alone, without their host, the fodder turned under for a greater good. Cypriots, Turkish and Greek will not be forgotten; sooner than they imagine, they will forget "them".

I’m happy to inform that Cypriot Nationalism is alive and well in my house. As for all other houses, I don’t know but I’ve stopped caring about Cypriot donkeys.

Cyprus for Cypriots most definitely. But this doesn't mean that Cyprus shouldn't be part of something greater if the Cypriots themselves democratically choose to. It is an oxymoron to suggest that "Cyprus for Cypriots" is achieved by prohibiting from Cypriots the right to democratically choose what to do with Cyprus.

Indeed. The majority chose Enosis with Greece when asked in referendums (1930 and 1950). Our choice is still the same today.

With Cyprus as part of Greece, the PM would most likely be a Cypriot.

Enosis can save Greece from bankruptcy and bad governance!
