when your love for Greece exceeds that of your love for Cyprus
This is why you do not understand. Greece and Cyprus are inseparable. They are ONE. It is you who see them as two.
when your love for Greece exceeds that of your love for Cyprus

Yes, that's usually the case.
Albanians don't go down well with Greeks.
Neither do Cypriots.
Yeh Albanians don’t go down well in Greece. They are associated with crime, and cheap labour so they don’t go down too well in Greece. That is true.
But Cypriots not going down too well in Greece is totally nonsense! Where did you get that from? Cypriots do just fine in Greece with hardly any differentiation from Greeks.
True...they can’t hate us...we brought so much of their NPL’s we friggin own their ass now.

Who bought all the Cyprus NPL's DT? I want to know who owns your asses!
GreekIslandGirl wrote:Greece sent a ballad in Greek. There is a logical and aesthetic reason why they did that.
If you understood Greek culture (which you don't), you would understand why Greece would not give such a song 12 points (except for its Cypriot association) and why some other countries (not many) gave Cyprus 12 points - but for other/their own reasons.
European countries are very much individuals (for good or bad; bad in the case of winning against the united Israeli entries). Greece gave this entry 12 points, this time, because it would help Cyprus. Because it represents Cyprus. You don't like that reason. The fact we can rise above personal choice when faced with patriotism.
GreekIslandGirl wrote:It's no wonder, to me, that you couldn't wait to try and diminish our bond with Greece by pretending you love this song so much and Greece voted because they, like you, love this song so much.
Get this straight, loving this song does not equate to loving Cyprus (but you'd use any trick). Seeing this song as brash does not diminish the beauty and power of Cyprus.
I have no interest in euro vision, no views on how good the songs. However as a Cypriot I am happy that Cyprus did well.

Latest trade was a 4.7bn carve out of the coops NPL’s into a bad bank owned by the govt....so I guess we own our own asses

There are striking differences in our mentality and ethics that quite often lead to tension. These differences are more with those living around Athens. less with those in Thessaloniki, and much less with the Islanders.
Those who settle there simply adapt. Like the mainland Greeks adapt when the settle in Cyprus. But the differences never disappear...
Doesn't mean we or them are better though.
Cypriots like you who were born abroad and basically raised/got educated among the mixed greek+ greek cypriot diaspora may not notice any difference but we the locally born do....
I guess this is the case of GIG as well
