Strange IQ puzzle

Postby Pyrpolizer » Sun Mar 18, 2018 2:12 pm

The following puzzle was posted on the internet with the claim that only one person in a 1000 could find the correct answer.
This ratio looked very strange to me, so could you please vote here?
Once you find an answer that can stand a logical test, then vote for "yes".
Notice the problem has 2 answers. Either one can pass a logical test and they are both correct.

Please do not post your solution, just vote.

1+4=5
2+5=12
3+6=21
8+11=?

The solution will be posted after the poll is over.

May I say, with the risk of being misunderstood; this is an extraordinary simple quiz. I wonder if ....the General knows the answer, he appears to be very naive on balance. Boy im enjoying this !!

It’s typical of what you’ll find in the average IQ test but like you say it’s very easy for many people.

The programming world offers the cleverest and trickiest “IQ tests” I’ve ever faced, which is probably what keeps me going back to it because without some sort of mental stimulation life is pretty boring.

I agree with you this looks simple and I wonder where on earth the OP found the 1:1000 ratio.

OK so far we got 4 people who say they are certain meaning they can support their answer with a logical procedure.
One person already PM me and he got it right.

We will see in the end.

He probably got his 1,000 (sample) from America. :)

Mate, I eat numbers for breakfast.

You are a very foolish imbecile to challenge me on anything mathematical, because I would leave you for dead.

And the way I was trained, I would crunch the numbers in my head, or at the very most use a slide rule whiz wheel, but certainly no calculator. Most of the time from the top of my head using ratios.

The USA has on average one of the most sophisticated university systems on the planet. It probably has the best universities in the world.

I wouldn't attribute it to America. that is just a stereotype.

What you’re saying is irrelevant.

The US has a population of 326 odd million, the vast majority of which will fail high school let alone go to a uni.

Some 50 million earn most of the money and most of the rest are on social welfare and/or into crime.

That's right.
The poor Americans are actually tortured by the way Maths are been taught to them.
Their syllabus is such that turns the most simple things to terribly complicated.
In Japan though it's the other way round.
Leaving aside the fact that the Americans probably have the best Universities on Maths, the average American hates Maths and avoids them like hell.

I fucking don't think so. The got universities coming out of their behinds and most of them are very high calibre universities too.

Not to mention the fact that the country is a global leader in Medicine, technology and research.

The statistics look pretty normal to me. 85% of over 25s complete high School and about 33% of the population has a higher education degree.
