The TCs will soon have to choose if the want to be part of Europe or if they want to be under some Islamic dictatorship. I am sure lots of Turks in Turkey would also like the European option but for them the only way to escape is to emigrate. The TCs still have the option to choose Europe without having to emigrate, but that option will soon disappear. The bi-communal programmes are phased out as we speak, the green line trade regulation is already questioned by many, and the way things go it is quite possible that the gates to the north will close in a few months while for TCs getting and renewing RoC IDs and Passports and having access to facilities in the south will become an extremely long and difficult process. This is the year that TCs will have to choose between EU and Turkey. Having it both ways will not be an option for much longer.
The TC are a part of Europe, similarly to Turkey, but just not a part of the European Corrupt Union like the United Kingdom. Being geographically part of Europe is set by default Sotos. As for how the world's politics have shaped up since 1963/74, being a part of Europe, in the EU membership sense and in economic terms, pays no benefit in the grand scale of things. Northern Cyprus is effectively a Part of Turkey now, and even the EU has officially stated that they have no (including the Greek Cypriot administered ROC) "effective Control over Cyprus' Northern Territory until a Comprehensive agreement is secured". This is where Anastasiades really messed up in Cransd Montana, but the unfortunate truth of the matter is that his and your government's agenda does not include a Federal solution. This is where Turkey has played on your government and establishment's failures in seeking an unrealistic and never to be "Unitary" state idea and has now captured Northern Cyprus indefinitely. Unless your side change their mindset, Northern Cyprus will eventually be formally annexed. If Erdogan can send his military into a country like Syria against all its rejections, annexing Northern Cyprus under the pretext of 50 years of failed UN talks is a walk in the park. I can't warn your side enough.
