There doesn't seem to be interest on the Cyprus elections, where as on US elections the thread attracted over 40,000 views as against thus far less than 1000 for our own elections. Are we perhaps resigned to the commonly held view that all Cypriot politicians are the same therefore it matters not who the winner will be.

I have yet to form a balanced opinion on the political arenas of Cyprus, mainly because Im new to Cyprus. What I must say pleases me is the orderly democratic process througout the campaign and the first round of the elections. Having listened to all candidates I must congratulate them for their mature performance.

Is that why GR! voted Nicholas Papadopoulos?

Christos Christou was the only option in this election; the other 4 were pervert sympathizers!

I have been more than pleased with the democratic process of the first round of elections. I do hope today's also will be equally democratic, peaceful and mature.

I must however express my disapproval at the comments directed at our current President, whether you support him or not he is our President and repeatedly calling him a liar is not at all conducive to our island's standing in Europe. Im sure at some time in the near future Turkey will use this to undermine our President. Im certain that Anastasiades will be serving a second term. I predict a clear lead over Malas, attaining over 55% of the vote.

He is the democratically and legally recognized the world over as the President of Cyprus. Immaterial what you or I may think, or indeed Turkey may think.
