Now trouble building up in Saudi Arabia.

Trouble now brewing in Saudi Arabia? The resignation of the Lebanese Prime Minister from Saudi was widely reported but the rest of the story somehow got missed! It appears to be a quiet and pre-planned coup by one Saudi tribe against another ..... with big stakes to play for.

Saudi Arabia - This 'Night Of The Long Knifes' Is A Panic-Fuelled Move

Yesterday the ruling Salman clan in Saudi Arabia executed a Night of the Long Knifes cleansing the state of all potential competition. The Saudi King Salman and his son Clown Prince Mohammad bin Salman initiated a large arrest wave and purge of high ranking princes and officials. Part of this internal coup was the confiscation of huge financial estates to the advantage of the Salman clan.

The earlier forced resignation of the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri is probably related to the last night's events. The Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahoo endorsed the resignation. This guarantees that Hariri will never again be accepted in a leading role in Lebanon.

In Saudi Arabia eleven princes, including sons of the deceased King Abdullah, more than thirty former and acting ministers as well as the heads of three major TV stations were taken into custody or put under house arrest. The National Guard Commander Prince Mitieb Bin Abdullah was relieved from his post and replaced with Prince Khalid Bin Abdulaziz al Muqrin. The National Guard was the last intelligence and security power center held by the Abdullah branch of the al-Saud family.

...it has been suggested that this is an attempt at modernising Saudi society; linked to efforts like allowing women to drive cars by next year.

A backward, medieval country and a major exporter of oil and Islamic terrorism. The "guardian" of a medieval religious...culture!!!

I would most certainly not shed a tear at the dismantelment of this nation.

The dismantling of this Nation is not the problem ..... it is what replaces it! The US has bases in Saudi and these will remain and so will US support for any regime that is anti-Shia ..... i.e. opponents of Iran. Iran is an idealogical threat to both Saudi and the US and their allies as they support the Sunni factions. Throw in the sudden warming of relationships between Saudi and Israel and you have a very volatile scenario. Israel has nuclear weapons and with backing/encouragement from the US and Saudi, are quite likely to use them pre-emptively. That IS worrying. Trump is already priming the fuse by blaming Iran for the Yemeni missile attack on Riyadh airport!

I am not sure which side Paphitis was dealing with? I just hope for his sake he didn't put up any money or collateral for his joint business venture with them.

Well that is one way of filling the Country’s coffers. I wonder if this would work in Cyprus? :)

Saudi Arabia is about to confiscate $33 billion from four of its richest people.

Earlier today, when discussing the Saudi bank account and asset freeze (and confiscation) of dozens of princes and ministers, we said that just the haul of billionaire prince Alwaleed's $19 billion in various holdings, including nearly a billion dollars in jewellery, plans, yachts, furniture and cash...

Maybe they need the money to buy more US arms to attack Lebanon? No doubt at all that Israel is in this scenario some where. The last time the IDF attacked Lebanon, Hezbollah chased them out of the country. They have never forgotten the humiliation of that defeat and it would be a great way to get Iran to come to the aid of the Lebanese ...... just the excuse Israel needs to use their large nuclear weapons cache. And of course US encouragement in the shadows will help.

On the verge of catastrophe: Saudi Aabia says Lebanon declared war
.

As expected, Saudi Arabia has cast itself as the victim of external Shia plotting after its internal weekend of chaos which included a missile attack from Yemen, the deaths of two princes and other high officials within a mere 24 hours, and an aggressive crackdown against dissent in the royal family which saw close to a dozen princes placed under house arrest and, as Al Jazeera noted, in this Saudi version of 'Game of Thrones', the 32-year-old Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) shows that he is willing to throw the entire region into jeopardy to wear the royal gown.

While Saudi Arabia has long blamed Iran for sowing unrest in the region, this evening's declaration by Saudi Gulf affairs minister Thamer al-Sabhan that Lebanon has "declared war" against the kingdom is truly an historic first. But perhaps the biggest problem is that international media is currently uncritically spreading the statement, whereas what such a bizarre claim actually warrants is laughter. Thankfully, Nassim Nicholas Taleb sums it up nicely with a basic geography lesson: "Either the media is stupid, or Saudi rulers are stupid, or both. Lebanon did not formally declare war and there is no common border."

Update ....... from an Israeli source which confirms there is collusion to start another war in the ME by The Saudi’s and Israel ...... once again the US has to be involved. This recent phenomena of ‘leaking’ embarrassing documents for almost instant distribution on the Internet, must be a real pain-in-the-ass for those who conduct covert schemes to bring more chaos to the region, .......... not to mention the exposure of rampant tax avoidance (even evasion?) by the super rich?

"Explosive" leaked secret Israeli cable confirms Israeli-Saudi coordination to provoke war

Early this morning, Israeli Channel 10 news published a leaked diplomatic cable which had been sent to all Israeli ambassadors throughout the world concerning the chaotic events that unfolded over the weekend in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, which began with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's unexpected resignation after he was summoned to Riyadh by his Saudi-backers, and led to the Saudis announcing that Lebanon had "declared war" against the kingdom.

The classified embassy cable, written in Hebrew, constitutes the first formal evidence proving that the Saudis and Israelis are deliberately coordinating to escalate the situation in the Middle East.

The explosive classified Israeli cable reveals the following ................
